In-Game Events and Gatherings

I want to raise awareness around charitable events in eve. First note - most USA folks take this as an opportunity to get tax breaks and help the community...Paying extra money into RL events. To USA residents while it may sound charitable you may not be able to write the amount off your taxes especially if you want to itemize. Before you donate to any charity through this Eve with an intent to write it off on your USA Taxes you should go to the USA IRS site:

Any US based charity must provide their EIN. Format: ##-#######

If they do not provide that - before you donate - then you should not consider it a charity that you can benefit from on your taxes.


I express special caution on Children's Miracle Network or other donations. While they are a good cause - before your donate large sums of money ensure they meet the EIN requirement.

Children's miracle network works with 1,000's of hospitals around the USA. However, their site is not always compliant. So please make the organizer aware ahead of your donation. That can be fixed soon, as each hospital hosts their own site.

Refiling will cost another $150. I'm going through an doing a review of all donations I've given the past 2 years, since the IRS called me on 2 of them that were suppose to be 501(c)(3). I will NOT call them out on this forum, but I will take them up as a Intl Corporate Lawyer. I will also work with Eve to ensure any donation asks are classified properly and approved in the forum.
