Question about scope events

The requirements for these can's are honestly pretty high and would take some serious farming to acquire. So much so that getting enough reward within the active time period to make it worth it makes me wonder if I even want to bother. That said, since these new events are all brokered by Scope will points earned towards a reward can carry over from one event to the next or if we're 3/4 of the way towards a gold can are we just forced to buy a silver and the points in between are going to be wasted? If the latter then yay, good idea/system. We can do some sites here and there and eventually get some goodies w/o grinding. If not... well bleh. I'll probably go back to doing what I was doing before the event was ever born with the addition of maybe hunting farmers actually grinding away the event sites.

After grinding these sites for about 2 hours last night I ended up just on the verge of completing enough to earn 1500 points. So lets say you (the average pilot) earn 1000 points and hour that's 50 hours just to earn a single gold can. If an average person (with no life outside of new eden) can play 30 out of the 40 days the event is live then they need to grind these things about 2 hours a day (including bio breaks and interruptions) every day they log in which leaves how much time exactly to do anything else at all?

Welcome to EvEnt grind online the 3rd Genesis.

I completed 5/5 for 500 points, that's enough to burn my interest out. Wont be doing any more.

They've got to make their PCU numbers look better somehow.

Don't worry I'm sure you'll be able to buy the rewards for some RL $$$ as well eventually...

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

And remember what everyone says here when someone criticizes anything...

It's a sandbox! Players create the content...

Wish you all a good farming/grinding...personally I won't....

Group together..... or don't.

Got my first Serpentis site credit by warping in to find 3 Istar killing everything. Got annoyed and started to salvage their kills. Ended up getting credit for the site even though I didn't shoot anything :)

Betcha this works with the incursion event too. Just shadow them in a cheap frig.

The fun one is going to be kill a drifter BB with a frigate. This is now EvE's Hogger run!

Intention isn't to moan or complain. I'm more interested in the question I posed about points carrying over to next event. My comments about the grind are more about providing a reason for the question than a gripe.

They are beacons that show up in your overview. If you are in a crowded area, people could be smashing them so quick you just don't get to see them pop up. If you are in a low traffic area and don't see them, make sure one of your tabs is showing beacons.

As for the topic, we have had some fun with it... swarm the crap out of them with a bunch of t1 frigs.. went "flying V" with like 6 gilas and mowed them down so fast we ran out of sites in like 30 mins. But now, I think its back to other things.. was good for a few days but not enough to keep me going.

It goes much quicker if you group up, especially the shipyard objective. Or if you just happen to be one of 10 or so people bashing the site. If you kill enough rats, you get credit for it when the can gets looted.

For me they are a bit grindy. Did two different 5/5s, that's enough.
The timed part is annoying. It can take time to find and run the right sites. The timer means "I'll finish it tomorrow" doesn't work.
What does the timer bring to the experience?

I much preferred the previous events. Each site was a complete experience with the rewards. Under this new system you have to grind a number to get the points to grind more points to get something. Yawn.

As a demonstration of a new system in Eve it's fine. As a finished polished content it's very grindy.

It also seems to go against the mentality that Seagull promotes and I like about giving the players the tools to create their own story.
Previously do a site, get some stuff - the players make the story from there.
Now - NPC wants stuff, follow a grindy linear NPC dictated track. On top a timer dictates how the player must play.
Seems more like quests from other MMOs.

PS the new ships docking/undocking animation is another example of control being taken away from the player. It's fun to see the first time, and I'm sure someone put lots of work into it and is justifiably proud. But the initial wow wears off, and now every time we dock/undock/change ship we have to watch it. What happened to giving the player the tools to make their own decisions?

Solo a Drifter battleship in a frigate...to gather data....yeah, that'd take some time. Shocked

It is quite grindy. You have to be really dedicated to hunting donw the right sites . Its not the best setup event. It could definitely use some polish.

For example i think the refresh timer to give you a new event should be optional. After 3 days you get a button that allows you to trash a goal, or you can choose to keep at it. If you choose for a new event, then the timer resets to 3 days and your stuck with that event for 3 days unless you complete it.

I also would of liked it better if it was across my account instead of each character being separate. I have characters that are good at some things or in a position to do certain tasks better than others while others are more suited to other tasks. It wouldnt feel so grindy if all the characters on a single account contributed to the same pool.

It gets a bit more grindy when you get wall-ed off with the "kill a Drifter in a frig" and "kill 5 Drifters" types...
