Battle of Caldari Prime Memorial Citadel Project

Hello, pilots!

During Federation Day, Live Events came up with the idea of building a Citadel in honor of Admiral Visera Yanala, the Leviathan Shiigeru pilot who heroically defied orders from Tibus Heth and refused to fire upon Luminaire VII with the Leviathan's doomsday weapons during the Battle of Caldari Prime all the way back on 22-MAR-13 (YC 115). Yanala paid with her life when she was executed by Tibus Heth, who attempted to cover-up the circumstances surrounding her death. When the truth broke, Heth lost all power, the Provists were deposed, and after a failed siege of Haatomo, Heth fled into Guristas-controlled space and was never seen again.

For the sake of Live Events, we are now working to construct a Citadel in Luminaire and deployed under the banner of the Fleet Coordination Commission in honor of the Battle of Caldari Prime!

While initially we intended to construct the Citadel in honor of Admiral Visera Yanala, to do so would be to ignore the sacrifice and contribution of so many other pilots who participated in the battle. We cannot honor one without deserting so many others, and therefore, we will honor all, not just one!

Originally, the announcement was made on 19-JUN-16 at 0316 (18-JUN, my time, USA EST), but less than 24 hours later, we've already scored huge commitments and donations!

I am now calling upon all interested parties and capsuleers to contribute to this project in honor of the Battle of Caldari Prime, Admiral Visera Yanala, and Live Events as a whole!

We intend to initially establish an Astrahus in Luminaire. But, if we can get enough materials by downtime 30-JUN-16, we may upgrade the Citadel to a Fortizar, or construct multiple Astrahus Citadels depending upon what we as a Live Events community feel is the most feasible, all things considered.

Materials Required:
-minerals
-planetary materials
-structure components
-ISK for Customs and contract costs

If you wish to contribute to this project, please contract any and all materials donated to me personally in Luminaire. Any station will do-they will be moved to the manufacturing station in Luminaire once all materials are gathered.

Thank You For Your Contributions!:

After sleeping on the ideas discussed for the project, I would like to propse a change:

As there are already 5 stations in orbit of Caldari Prime and it's moons, and none in orbit of Gallente Prime ...

and in consideration of the perceptions of some regarding the naming of the citadel ...

Maybe naming an astrahus over Caldari Prime: "Caldari Cultural Exchange" ... and

... a citadel in orbit of Gallente Prime, "Gallente Cultural Exchange", in geo-synchronous orbit over the city of Caille.

I'm willing to keep an open mind.

As much as I'd love to see a Fortizar go up in Luminaire, its requirements are pretty high. That and I think we all know that security is a concern.

If the naming is an issue, we can consider dubbing it the "Operation Highlander Memorial Station" as well to be more neutral.

Or do two Citadels, one for Caldari, one for Gallente.

We've got 10 days to collect donations and materials. So we've got plenty of time to debate and discuss how best to proceed.

Has there been any contact with the Caldari representatives to see if they have any naming preferences and maybe a willingness to operate / defend the Caldari citadel in the event we have the capability of building two?

Well, some Caldari operatives (and even Gallente, believe it or not) have issue with naming a Citadel after Yanala. They feel it gives preferential treatment to one person versus ignoring the fact that so many others participated in the event.

I'm inclined to take their concerns into account and devising a label which addresses ALL who fought in the battle rather than just one person. Politically correct, perhaps, but there are many ways wherein many can be honored.

We will see how events unfold over these next few days.

Our donation drive has concluded! We managed to amass a significant contribution!

Eye-balling it, I can confidently say that we have enough to assemble an Astrahus Citadel. I don't think we're quite there to assemble a Fortizar, but nevertheless, we will make use of what we have.

I will host a discussion with the contributors to determine what they want done with any unused materials and supplies.

Okay judging by those donations what we're missing from just the end products required to build the Astrahus/Fortizar:

Astrahus
Broadcast Node DONE
Integrity Response Drones 7
Isogen DONE
Megacyte DONE
Mexallon DONE
Nano-Factory DONE
Nocxium DONE
Organic Mortar Applicators 37
Pyerite DONE
Recursive Computing Module 22
Self-Harmonizing Power Core 22
Sterile Conduits 53
Tritanium DONE
Wetware Mainframe 35
Zydrine DONE

There is a surplus of Broadcast Nodes which you could sell off to fill in the missing parts - but I'm happy to donate the missing PI P4s to fill in that gap :)

To build a Fortizar you require - (this doesn't include donations)

Broadcast Node 833
Integrity Response Drones 261
Isogen 855,680
Megacyte 32,088
Mexallon 7,487,200
Nano-Factory 641
Nocxium 160,440
Organic Mortar Applicators 650
Pyerite 21,392,000
Recursive Computing Module 443
Self-Harmonizing Power Core 461
Sterile Conduits 842
Tritanium 106,960,000
Wetware Mainframe 623
Zydrine 74,872

I would advocate construction of one astrahus (first) near Caldari Prime.

Sell / trade/process excess materials to acquire the missing components.

Assemble a second astrahus near Gallente Prime.

If more materials / ISK are required to achieve either, let us know?

The Citadel is now undergoing construction as we speak!

We're now in talks over deciding where to anchor the Citadel.

Ideas we have so far:

-directly over Luminaire VII's north pole
-near the actual Battle of Caldari Prime site, but not directly on top of it

If you have an idea, please say so!

Like Feu dAstres, I advocate twin citadels, one each "in orbit" around Gallente Prime and Caldari Prime.

Thing is, EvE is terrible at orbits. There aren't any. Stuff just hangs in space unmoving. For starbases, stations, outposts and citadels we can hand-wave this physics fail away by presuming that they all have advanced gravitational anchoring technology that obviates the need for orbital considerations (that's why deploying one is called "anchoring", presumably).

As for the exact positioning, anything with high degrees of symmetry would appeal to me most. Whether this is two stations above their respective planets' north (or south!) poles, or two stations on the line between the two planets' centers, probably wouldn't matter much. I *would* however align the undock of each citadel towards the other one.

A solution where the Caldari Prime citadel would be near the Operation Highlander site is somewhat less desireable, since it is difficult to replicate symmetrically over Gallente Prime, and would look arbitrary over there. Moreso, it's probably impossible to anchor the citadel closer than 1000km from the beacon, meaning that the link between the citadel and the site would be somewhat tenuous.

Until all are free...

On Singularity:

Several citadels are in place in Luminaire for your viewing. Please do visit and check the views from each.

Some are at various altitudes between the Shiigeru craters and the site of the battle.

Two are in-line between Caldari Prime and Gallente Prime and named as follows:

Caldari Prime Cultural Exchange
Gallente Prime Cultural Exchange

It is my pleasure to announce that the Battle of Caldari Prime Memorial Citadel is online!

The Citadel is positioned approximately 2,500km off the original battle position, which exploded into history on 22-MAR-13. The monolith-like spires forming the apex of the structure face straight towards the Shiigeru's crash site. The undock corridor is aimed directly towards the planet, This is deliberate, so we are all reminded of the extend and the continuous impact of the battle on our universe and our history.

The Citadel currently offers enhanced refining, but is not quite yet fully fueled up. In the coming week, it will be.

Thank you everyone for your contributions to this great project!
