Serpentis Shipyard and Research Facility- Quickest Way to Run Them!

Alright, so all of you optimization warriors that just love to get the best results/hour of any activity, let me show you by far the quickest and most efficient way to farm these sites. Using this tactic you can cut your time in the site from 9 minutes, down to 90 seconds!

First of all you guys are gonna go to Jita and buy yourselves a battleship. It doesn't really matter which as long as it's got 8 highslots, a dronebay, and at least 5 mids.

Next you're gonna buy some important stuff. You're gonna need 3 cap batteries, a kinetic or thermal hardener, and a 100mn AB. Last but not least, you're going to buy 8 large graviton smartbombs. Those are the most important. Now you guys probably think I'm crazy. Not so.

All of the ships in the shipyard and research facility orbit you at 5-6km. Now, what that means, is if you give them 30 seconds to settle around you, using 2 or 3 pulses of your smartbombs you can kill every, single, one. The only problem is you have to have decent smartbombs.

On what smartbombs to get, kinetic is their primary weakness so you're going to want to buy gravitons. Also, 5km on the t1 just won't cut it. You'll be slowboating around trying to catch them all and then warping away and back as you wait to regain capacitor. Good news though, if you don't have the skills for t2 large smartbombs there are handy dandy faction variations available in the larger trade hubs. These actually get MORE range than t2, giving another useful 250meters. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a good improvement. They also consume much less capacitor incase you think it's a good idea to waste cap by starting a rave party.

All you have to do in site, is burn towards the can a little bit until you're near the middle of their group. Stop, and wait for them to all notice you and swarm you. Once they're all close, pulse your smartbombs a couple times and there will be a bunch of floating wrecks around you :) Just make sure that, if you're doing it in highsec, there's nobody nearby.

On the off chance you managed to screw up this very simple process, just use the drones on your ship and nuke the survivors as they cower from your mighty smartbombs.

A sample fit might go like this

[Rokh]

x8 smartbombs (T2 or even better faction gravitons remember)

3x cap batteries
1x kin hardener
1x therm hardener
1x 100mn AB

Who cares what goes in the lows, maybe cap recharge if you really feel like it but as long as you only pulse your SBs when every ship is within range they should all go down before cap becomes a problem.

Maybe hyperspatial rigs for optimal farming speed

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the best and fastest way to run the new Shipyard and Research Facilities.

Hehe, didn't take long for someone to figure out how to blitz the new content.

Anyway, nice info, thanks for sharing.

First time I jumped in had the exact same thought.

Just don't do this is highsec (or do if you want to dontate some free faction smartbombs to me).

Everyone is warping to those sites now and they are crowded in High sec so running smartbombs there is not really an option. Maybe only if you are sure there is no one there and no one will warp and try to get to can before you, or with premeditation trying to be smartbombed and concordokenning you.

You forgot to add that you need only to kill the central group, this guarding the can, and loot the container.
I got even some implants from the can, 1 Low grade with +5% armor repair and 1 Mid grade with +1% armor repair bonus.

Nice, find a nice quite area and this would be pretty baller. I'd get concorded because someone would jump in, so I'll stick to a trio of gilas but this could be fun in some of the surrounding lowsec areas.

I had this idea last night but was low on isk after upgrading my legion a bit. Best faction smartbombs are true sanshas and they about 150 mill a pop.

Would recommend a MJD aswell just in case you mess up and need to get away. Plus the sites spawn better loot in the lower security areas. Quiet low secs easy to find. Warp in rave up and be winners.

Wormholes are good too but no local warning of ganks.

Gravitons are best because they do the most damage, and they're also a **** ton cheaper. Currently they're only about 60m/pop in Jita sell orders for the caldari navy and dread gurista ones.

What I see the most effective way of doing it is in lowsec like you described, and fit all lows with warp core stabs because you don't actually have to lock anything if you do it right. As long as there's no more than 3 other people in local you should be okay, even if you get dropped by a cloaky tackle stratios you can warp off.

They're quite literally everywhere, just make sure you have beacons checkmarked on your overview and they spawn in all space. The only one really worth running though is the serpentis shipyard and research facility, unless you have a specific mission saying you need to run another one.

The best way is to go to a crowded area in highsec, and grab the points and loot while others do the work. Blink

All you have to do is clear the central group. Once they are dead, the can is lootable.

Done.

I have a different method for high sec sites that doesn't need you to change the safety :)

  1. Get yourself your favourite Battlecruiser or Battleship - I chose the Myrmidon, stick on a MJD.
  2. Warp to site
  3. Drag central group away from the citadel by moving away from the warp-in point at 90 degrees (up or down)
  4. Kill the frigates first (try not to use drones just yet as they will aggro the other groups)
  5. If you clear the frigates quickly enough you should be able to target the remaining cruisers and battlecruisers from the group
  6. Start killing the remaining ships from the group and keep an eye on your distance from the loot can
  7. Use your afterburner if necessary to make sure you are approximately 100km off the loot can
  8. Once all the ships from central group are dead MJD to the can :)
  9. If you like you can drop sentries now and blitz the rest of the ships whilst collecting your reward

Yeah, did this after it was done to me a couple times... still feels douchy. Especially for just a handful of serpentis parts. Pirate

It looks like for last day or two people started to ignore these Lol
They open the can and leave. And the can still sits there.....

Since the update 2 days ago (which also added loot to the Serpentis battlecruiser wrecks), the research facility no longer self-destructs after looting.

Until all are free...

Just what exactly can be looted anyway?
I did those things twice and both times got some basically worthless serpentis microchips (first time 4, second time only 2 to add some insult).

Je suis Paris // Köln // Brüssel // Orlando // Nice // Würzburg, München, Ansbach // Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray

Je suis Berlin // Fort Lauderdale // London // St. Petersburg // Stockholm

There's a small chance of getting the new armor repair implants, and each site you run gains you points towards unlocking the bonus cans, which have stuff like boosters which speed up your training for a day and also skins and random junk.
