Canceling cache verification deleted all downloaded assets

So today I needed to log in quickly to save someone but the little window about verifying the shared cache came up. There was a button labeled something like "close" or "cancel" so I clicked it to get into the game faster. At that point the launcher froze for about 15 seconds then let me start the clients. When the clients launched I noticed they were stuck on a black screen downloading resources, so I gave up on logging in and decided to check the cache to see what happened. The ResFiles folder was only 100MB instead of about 8GB, so apparently everything in it got deleted by closing the cache verification window.

I managed to easily restore the files from a recent backup, but most people probably wouldn't be so fortunate and would have to download everything again.
