Hello EVE peeps. So I'm gonna come back to EVE for a while. What I need is some direction on finding a corp to join. I've got a decent chunk of change in the bank, and am primarily interested in buying a mining ship for some low stress work. I like to PvP from time to time, but need to acclimate myself back into the universe since there have obviously been a lot of changes. I've got a little over 46m skill points.

I appreciate the help.

Finding a corp to join:

- in-game, there's a corp finder app, where you can set your filters (what you like to do, what region of space you prefer), and you get a list of corps, with stats and descriptions as set by their directors, and with buttons to apply or open convo or contact them.

- you can also look at the recruitment sub-forums here

- and you can also respond to any recruiters in the local, help, or NPC corp chat channels

- or you can Show Info on anyone you see, and click their corp for info

Finding a GOOD corp to join:

- high-sec is crowded and crappy, with few reasons to group with others because you can do everything solo
- mining is pretty boring, pays the least, and requires corp directors or mining foremen to keep track of everyone's ore manually
- EVE focuses on PVP more than on PVE
- there are groups that run protection rackets on miners and haulers in high sec, you WILL see war declarations from them

So if you want a good corp to join, first look at low sec, 0.0, or wormhole space, where the constant danger means your corp-mates are much more interested in staying together, helping each other out, and ensuring the success of the corp, and second, don't do mining, look at PVP - there are all sorts of fleets, even public ones, for all sorts of daily events, and you can jump right in.

EVE is a bit like Hotel California.

You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

Welcome back to the game!

There is an option that I think could be right up your alley. There is a region in the game called Providence and it is currently inhabited by a coalition of alliances interested mainly in Industry operations. They live by a policy called NRDS or 'Not Red, Don't Shoot' meaning that unless you go down there and cause trouble they will not attack you. The area is rich in Ore, Ice and Ratting sites.

This is a very unique region of the game governed by player-enforced laws.

It is also a region where many PVP alliances go to farm kills so if you are looking for occasional PVP then there are almost always defense fleets up where you can defend the region against hostiles. It might be a good option for you since you can have a relatively safe experience while still having occasional bouts of null sec excitement.

Some of the alliances that I remember off-hand are:

Sev3rance
Yulai Federation
Curatores Veritatis Alliance

There are others but those are some of the main groups.

Hope that helps! :)
