So I've tried to install the new launcher about four or five times now and I have uninstalled eve twice and it still won't download for me. It seems to be stuck around 1 percent when downloading then just freezes. I got no idea's any help would be appreciated, also the eve repair tool does not want to seem to work either...

New patch is taking forever to load. I'm stuck at 0.1% after 5 minutes of waiting.

Tried to download the launcher from the website to reinstall. Same problem.

Ditto. Each time I re-start, I go to 0.1% and hang.
I'm not seeing any network traffic or drive activity to speak of. Yesterday, I could not have 2 accounts up without the client dropping every time I went to warp.

Let me pass on what has happened. I restarted 4 times after I got to 0.2% each time. After I got through the first 2 files that way, things sped up quite a bit...Like 5 min. for the next 15%.

We'll see if the pace continues.

Okay, so, I've read about 4 pages of posts (a few of the first and few of the last), ---- so I'm gonna ask ---

1) Will the old launcher update to become the new launcher?

2) I tried to install the new launcher, but all I get is a "download Eve" and "where do I want to install it". Since I already have Eve, why would I want to re-download it? Won't I lose all my settings?

3) I have the "dual" setup - that lets me run two instances of Eve at once, what do I have to do different?

So I installed the new launcher.

Double click.

Nothing happens.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting folders, Revo Uninstaller, admin mode, etc; won't work.

Use the old launcher, works.

I decided to come back to Eve and re-subbed a few accounts, but I can't seem to get back my old settings without going through clunky steps in the new launcher.

I've done:

  1. Updated to new launcher
  2. Migrated settings using the wizard on new launcher first run

Does using exefile.exe in its new location not load any settings at all? I understand you can click the "E" button in the top right of the launcher and start an instance using that specific settings folder in the server list, but what I'm used to doing and want it to do is load the settings from before when I run exefile.exe by itself (bypassing the launcher, which I only use for updates). When I run exefile.exe right now, it loads up Eve with all the settings gone. Are there some parameters I can add to the exefile.exe shortcut to launch a specific profile with my old settings without having to launch Eve instances one by one with the options under the launcher "E" button? I'm contemplating re-subbing my other accounts and it's a huge pain already to launch one by one via the server list in the launcher. It's just not as convenient as hitting the old exefile.exe shortcut a bunch of times.

Is this scenario not possible anymore? Perhaps it's possible but my forum search skills are just quite terrible (I've read through a dozen plus threads that contained no useful/definitive info).

I'm not sure why you need to go there, but I only used one settings file for my accounts. A few small things were shared between them, but more and more settings over time have been migrating to server side, per-character. The new launcher makes it possible to launch all accounts on TQ with a single click of the "Play Selected (number)" button.

My experience with exefile is similar, it seems to pick up default settings. I used to keep the old launcher configured for one account so I could easily close and relaunch that account to switch characters, and start a second account with exefile, but not anymore. The new launcher makes it easy to launch multiple accounts from a single UI.

Some feedback for CCP: I have walked a number of current players through new launcher setup, and find it does not always store migrated settings properly during the first run of setup. Players will copy the settings file from the left side to the right in the client settings window, click "close" then log in an account... and find themselves watching the Intro movie all over again, stuck in default settings. They close out everything and recheck client settings, and discover "default" in the list.

For best results, I'm advising players to not log in an account after the client settings screen is closed. Instead close the launcher, and restart it. Players may see a message about purging obsolete files. Once that's complete, go back to the client settings screen in the launcher, and double-check that your settings file selection was copied from the left side of the window, to the right, and remove "default," if its there. Close and restart the launcher one more time to check that the client settings window shows what you expect, and you should be good to log in accounts from that point.

You'll see a question during new launcher setup asking if you want to use the shared resource / cache that it finds from your current installation. Yes you do, this will spare you from re-downloading everything. I had some details about making sure settings are preserved, in my previous post.

I don't know if you are using advanced user file system tricks like junctions, or just two installations in two different places... so I may not have the best advice for what you're trying to do. The new launcher keeps its startup files (including exefile) in a different place. You don't install it into an existing EVE folder, take the default folder suggestion or make a new one for it. The new launcher makes it very easy to start multiple accounts from a single UI / window, and then it leverages the shared resource cache files you already have.

I had the same questions about installing the new launcher, as I'm running EVE on a SDD and don't have enough room for a whole new install. I tried the above suggestions on my other account which is on another computer with just 1 regular drive, and it did not save my settings, even when I closed the client and reopened again before logging in. (Do you move profiles before closing the window and restarting the launcher, or don't move anything, close the move window and launcher, and restart launcher?

I noticed that no CCP employees have replied to this forum in a while.

Could you please send us the launcher logs via a bug-report? Stick my name in the bug-report header and I'll take a look at it.

You can find instructions on where the logs can be found here.

Thanks for the feedback. We've gotten reports where it seems that the settings aren't being copied (or at least not being used). One thing that you do have to do after copying the settings is to select the profile you want to use for your account. If you don't and if the default account is present in the settings list, you will get the default settings. Not sure if this is relevant to the setups you have witnessed.

Sooo, I've finally swapped over & managed to get it all working. However, I can't find the option to auto-shut the launcher once you click play? Having to manually shut it is a pita. It must be there somewhere, so can someone please point me in the right direction???

No, 'fraid there is no auto-shutdown of the launcher.

Hey.

I've had no luck reproducing this issue.

Do you have any Anti-Virus active which might be blocking the install?

Also, could you please check if there are any CCP or EVE folders in your %APPDATA%/Local/VirtualStore folder?
