Old Player Returning - Completely out of my depth - Help

Hey Guys
I played EVE back in 2014 for about 3 - 4 months (can't remember)
I have 1 character (This one)
I'm a Gallente Pilot, and from what I remember, I was into drones and mission running.

My Current Ship is a Tristan.

Questions
1> Is there a way for me to re-run the tutorials on this character? I completely forgot how to play the game :/
2> If not , and I create a new character, should I make them the same as this one?
3> What 3rd Party programs should I download ? I remember some form of build site where I'd drag a fit out into this app and it'd tell me what skill planning I needed and things like that.
4> Just in general help me get back into the game!

F12

Alternatively, play around with the settings and experiment. Smile

Also... re-rolling your character is not a thing here in EVE. You are better off using a character that you used to use as it may have a few "support skills" (see: skills that apply to all ships or multiple specialties) already trained up.

EVE Fitting Tool (aka: EFT)

Python Fitting Tool (aka: PYFA)

Both are fitting tools that exist outside of the game.
- You can download and use them free of charge
- You can upload your character's skills into them
- You can fit a ship however you like without having to spend a dime of in-game currency.

Bear in mind that stats are not everything. You can build a ship with the best stats possible, but if you don't know how to utilize your ship properly or understand some basic mechanics (like turret tracking, signature radius, synergizing tactics with the overall fit and vice versa) you will most likely blow up in a hilarious fashion (from our perspective of course).

There is so much... it is hard to know what information to give you.

Any particular specialty or activity you want to get involved in?
Any ships you are looking at?
Are you looking to make money?

One piece of advice I can give to everyone is to join a corporation as soon as possible. Having camaraderie and support is important and can make or break the game.

Will join a CORP asap, download the tools etc.

Basically, I want good ways to earn enough income to PVP
So I need
1> A solo money making strategy (prefer combat)
2> A plan to get into PVP
3> Re-learn all the basics (like turret tracking, signature radius, synergizing tactics with the overall fit and vice versa)
4> A recommended CORP that will show me the ropes.

Is there any way for me to show you my skills etc and then you guys advise what you'd do?

1a. You have some options.
- Faction Warfare can provide you with the ability to make money.
Simply join up, find a complex in the areas of low-sec where it is happening, orbit the "button" (see: the little structure inside the deadspace pocket which is past the acceleration gate), and stay until it times down.
(NOTE: Be aware that this is high risk as you are effectively taking part in a global war declaration. Other players WILL be hunting for you)
- Find lootable complexes in space (you can either warp to them, but the best ones have to be probed down).
- Hunt players that are running complexes (you may need experience for this)
- Blitz the asteroid belts in low-sec looking for "special" NPCs (examples: Clone Soldier ships, Officer NPCs) in low-sec or null-sec.
(NOTE: Be aware other players WILL be hunting for you)
- Buy goods from trade hubs, sell them at a higher price in high-risk places where they are scarce.

2a. Okay... establish your income. Or build up a fat wallet. Now research some fits and buy a bunch of ships and mods in bulk. Move them to a place you want to PvP in (I recommend low-sec). Pre-fit all your stuff so it is ready to go at any time. Undock and start hunting in belts, complexes, and well... anywhere you think you would want to go if you are looking to make a quick buck.

3a. Euhhhh... does someone else want to field this for me? I know there are links out there, but I am lazy and don't want to find them.

4a. The best corps out there will generally not advertise themselves. You have to find them.
This can tie in with your first forays into PvP. Start a conversation with the people you attack (or have attacked you) and ask them questions. "How can I get better?" "Did I do anything wrong?" "Can you recommend me a better ship fit?"
If you have a good attitude, show some humor, and display some endurance... you may get invited to join up with someone.

I should note that a lot of my advice may get you blown up. Take it in stride. Your ship is a tool, ISK is disposable, and remember that you are playing a game. Lol

http://eveboard.com/

It will require you to provide an API for your character.

Things to know about the API:
- it only grants "read only" access to your character's skills. No one can gain any access to your character or account through it.
- you can delete the API codes anytime you wish... however doing so will simply end any future updating. It will not remove any information you provided at the time.

Yes it is. Big smile

If you haven't found it already, the site I find most useful every time I come back to the game is Uniwiki, Eve University's treasure trove of all sorts of information about every aspect of the game, including all the new stuff that's come out since you've been gone.

Hit F12 and run the career agents. Tristan is a good ship for level 1 security missions - so you could just start with those.
Important note - make sure you read the mission text when doing the advanced military career agent. You are EXPECTED to lose your ship in a mission or two. When those missions come up, you want to make sure you insure the frigate they give you and use that.

2> If not , and I create a new character, should I make them the same as this one?
Dont create a new character unless you dont like the avatar you created. Even then - you should have a free "restructure" for your character.

Evemon, Evemon, Evemon. Plan your skills.
Other thing I liked to use are IPH (isk per hour).

4> Just in general help me get back into the game!
Join a corporation
Try out all aspects of the game. Missioning is only one part of it - in fact, you will get a lot of PVP related skillpoints as you train up with missioning (vs if you would train an industrial focused character).

Missions is an ok way to make isk. Its not going to support pvp in the long run( unless you do very little pvp and a lot of pve)
Plantary interaction (PI) is a low skill method to make passive income. Your not going to make great money at it, but its passive and low skill so it can provide a low skill steady income stream.
Exploration pays well, even in high sec. But its not steady. You can have a large payday and make relatively nothing to speak of for hours. But it generally averages out as one of the best paying professions. In null space( if/when you make it there) exploration anoms and combat sites are the best paying ways to make isk( combat sites can pay decent in high sec as well)

I would suggest utilizing the second alt slot on your account for a new alt. You are now given a bunch of core skills at level 2-4 ( about 430k SP worth) including ones that allow you to do basic exploration right out of the box. I would use this alt to run sites and let your main focus on combat skills for now.

For pvp at a low skill level, i would recommend Red VS Blue( RVB) .They are two alliances that basically constantly fight each other ( wardec) as well as others. You have RVB- Red Federation and RVB- Blue Republic. From there, i would advance to a 0.0 alliance that focuses on pvp, roams of all sizes, gangs, and fleets. And has a good SRP ( ship replacement program) . It will make funding your pvp much much easier.

I rather like doing exploration if you're looking for things to get involved in. It's complicated at first but there are a wealth of guides and the isk is amazing. I'd advise looking for a fleet to join (one of the none corp associated ones)

The guys are really helpful and have been advising me a lot on fits and skills for fleet PvP. I think it will be good training for if I do join a 0.0 corp in the future.

You don't need to start again but with a bit of clever stratergy (courtesy of advice from the State War Acadamy you can get 70 days of gameplay for £8 by using ref code for 21 day trial, the eve content pack for an additional 20 days and on g2a you can find a cheap code for the steam begginers pack for about £3-£4 which adds a months game time.

Thanks for the recommendation Roenok.

Yes An7hrax - you are most welcome at RvB any time.
