Active Passive Scans

Anybody who's ever been to sea in a navy warship, or read a lot of space opera, knows the difference between active and passive scans. Passive means you just listen, active means you ping the hell out of them but then they know you are there. Be kind of cool if we could do something like that, weighted with appropriate penalties and joy. Yet another attractive feature would being able to see the ships in your corp when they are cloaked.

Forum Rep for a bunch of characters, couple corps and one seriously Lost In Space multiboxer.

I like the idea of your fleet/corp mates being able to see me when cloaked. Would prevent them from decloakING me or I them on accident.

Could be a coincidence that my corpmates and I are telling each other to warp to us at range, so you don't get decloaked.

Though I like the idea, I think the hamsters would be very unhappy about it.

Oh and of course, thank you for your service to keep the world at peace!

Not that I am arguing with you here but just what about the OP makes you think they served in the military somewhere?

EvE already has both passive scans (d-dscan) and active scans (probes) so why do we need to change it?

Currently the power of active scanning (probes) is balanced in part by the time it takes to do it, if they added an active component to the d-scan process how would you propose to keep it from becoming overpowered?

we have this already. local chat and your overview are passive, d-scan and probing are active.

I think it would be pretty cool if you could not D-scan while cloaked.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

I thought he implied that, so I said thank you and of course all other soldiers, pilots and seamen alike.

I know you think it would be pretty cool if I could not dscan while cloaked.

I think it would be pretty cool if you could not see local while you were in an anomaly.
