Eve crashes after a few minutes

Hey guys!

Since yesterday my Eve client has started acting really weird. Whenever I launch Eve, it runs fine for 1-5 minutes and then just freezes for no apparent reason. I've tried clearing the cache, running the repair tool as well as using the new launcher to verify the integrity of the downloaded files.

Is anyone else experiencing this and if so, is there a fix?

I am also having this issue. I seem to be able to log in and choose my character fine, but after that the program becomes unresponsive and tells me CCP exeFile has become unresponsive.

Same. It seemed to go away last time I logged in, but I've found that this seems to only happen in space and not while docked. SharedCache has been verified several times, cache cleared including all old backups, all of my drivers are up to date, and nothing seems to show anything outside of Eve to suggest a fault or issue beyond Event Manager reporting that exefile.exe (from Eve) suffered an app hang and closed (I forced closed it form Task Manager).

The program ExeFile.exe version 2016.3.101.5825 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

I might try uninstalling and reinstalling Eve tomorrow if I get a chance to, but I may be effectively AFK until this weekend depending on work.

It's a long shot but I'll share anyway. The only case in which I have frequent client freezes is if I enable XMP or extended memory profile for my system memory. The rest of my pc seems to operate just fine but with XMP (higher memory clock speeds, not overclocks per say but a system bios option) the Eve client will crash frequently ussually after a few minutes of play. The system performance difference between normal operation and the faster profile is negligable so I just leave it off.

I just had 3 freezes requiring hard reset. Once undocked, 2x docked. Just cleared file cache. Will see if that does it.

Though that might help a few, I doubt that is directly linked to it. I've never had that problem before in any game, including Eve, up until the last expansion and I don't mess with my bios (nor would I, I'm not confident I'd know what I was doing and would rather leave it be, just like registry editing). This does seem like a really weird bug. No trace of any issue shows up anywhere outside of the game when it happens. The only thing I've been able to figure as a pattern is that it won't trigger in station, just outside.

Thanks for the idea, though. Hopefully it helps somebody.

I am having this problem with the computer screen freezing up. The audio has a static noise, keyboard and mouse unresponsive so that the only solution is a hard boot of the computer. Sometimes I can be in space for hours and sometimes minutes before it happens. All checks upon reboot give no clue as to the problem. I have the latest driver for the video card.

My system built by cyberpowerpc

GPU : 2X GeForce GTX 980 ti (problem happens with or without SLI enabled)
driver 6.7.16 version 368.39

CPU: intelcore i7-6700k CPU@4.00GHz

Mem: 32.00 GB RAM

Res: 1920x1080, 60 Hz

Sounds almost like a motherboard or power supply problem. What size power supply do you have running those 2 980's? Any trouble with other programs? Your system certainly shouldnt have any issues w eve.

Same specs other than:
GPU: r9 390x
CPU: AMD 8950

After all day of checking diff components, I'm at this point fairly positive it was my r9 390x. I'll know if eve ever updates so i can log into it :D

Anyone tried reinstalling yet? I've tried everything else short of, even tried turning off my AV during a session.

Don't know why I didn't think of it till now, but I ran Eve in Dx9 and it hasn't acted up when jumping from Jita to a neighboring system and back. I didn't stay logged in for much longer 'cause of sleep and all, but it wasn't hanging every two seconds like it has been. Kind of unfortunate considering Dx9 will be going away at some point, so this is hardly an ideal solution, but at least it's something. Give it a shot and hope it helps others. Heard some others are facing similar client stability problems and saw Dx9 "fixed" it for them, so it might help others watching this thread too.

Either way, good luck; I'm done taking a break from Eve.

Gonna give this a bump because it's still happening to me even in Dx9, just seems to happen a lot less often. Still does though, and still happens far more frequently in Dx11. Ran a trip from Irjunen system in Caldari space to Asrios system in Amarr space and back again and had the client freeze up twice. Seems like if I stay in one general cluster of systems it's fine, but short hops through systems on a lengthy trip seem to cause it to happen every now and then no matter what. In Dx11, just one jump or warping around will cause it. Again, oddly enough in either render settings, Eve is completely stable in station.
