So now that compressed ore is available to anyone who can dock in a citadel do you think the value of compressed will go down or the value of raw will go up? Both? Neither?

Discuss.

My initial knee jerk reaction would be that they would come more in-line with one another with less variation between their prices (proportionate the the amount of ore of course).

Below are a few items I though of that are based on the assumption someone is mining to sell the ore and not use it themselves.

- People who did not compress before may not be aware of the ability to compress, may be to lazy to compress, may not have access to a CONVENIENT citadel to compress. Result, these people do not affect the compressed market directly.

- The people above sell their ore more than likely sell it to market orders. Again, assuming these people are buying the ore to sell rather than use, they are probably already compressing it to move it easier. Because major market have not fully moved to citadels and the likelihood that miners would not move to a citadel to sell their ore right away, means most of the ore is still sold in stations. Therefore, ore would still need to be moved somewhere to be compressed. Result is this has no affect on compressed market directly.

However, if enough miners who did not compress before begin to compress ore now, what you would probably see is a lower of the compressed ore market price due to more supply. This would cause there to be less supply in the uncompressed market leading to a price increase.

Overall, the price of the end supply of minerals would stay the same, but the compressed vs uncompressed ore may change. My reasoning here also assumes the overall demand for end minerals stays the same.
