Wing Command and Fleet Command

So.... I always though that fleet and wing command skills were all about creating more squads and so forth (like the corp management skills... create a fleet for x people), and that they weren't strictly needed as such assuming you have enough capacity for the people you are trying to fleet up.

However, now I'm hearing that they are strongly connected with giving out fleet bonuses... Can someone give me a run down of what exactly they effect... Is it just the core leadership skills, or is it gang mods too or what ?

Without Wing Command and Fleet Command skills, you can only give bonuses to two pilots per level of Leadership skill. That leads to a maximum of one 10-pilot squad (including you in the Squad Command position).

With Wing Command I, you can give bonuses to one Squad plus yourself. As you add levels to Wing Command, you can give bonuses to more Squads, up to a maximum of five Squads.

With Fleet Command I, you can give bonuses to one Wing plus yourself. As you add levels to Fleet Command, you can give bonuses to more Wings, up to a maximum of five Wings.

This includes basic Leadership skill bonuses, Leadership module bonuses, Leadership implant bonuses, etc.

Definitions:
Squad: Up to 10 pilots total
Wing: Up to five 10-pilot Squads -- 51 pilots max, including the Wing Commander
Fleet: Up to five 51-pilot Wings -- 256 pilots max, including the Fleet Commander
