I dare you people to try and play Reunion.

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...

Warcraft II
Raptor: Call of the Shadow
Rise of the Triad
Syndicate
Theme Hospital
Z
Descent
Cannon Fodder
Transport Tycoon

I still have the original floppies of:
Zone 66
Jill of the Jungle
Bio Menace

Still play a lot of these regularly. Happy to see there's an open source effort ongoing with Z, I've been unable to get it to run in DOSbox so far :(

A couple of them I forgot:

Empire
Sim City
Civilization

PVP is a question with no single right answer, but a lot of wrong ones.

Aces over the Pacific and Orgin Game about pacific war. Aces over Europe also was hot!

Not to mention Origin gave us the FANTASTIC game "Privateer" was space based and far advanced and more original than the garbage we get today. They also made a flight sim. They also created and built the MMO generation with UO until EA screwed it up. They are the fathers of MMO's and UO was a fantastic success.

I can't believe you guys are busy ranting about Wing Commander and Civilization and you seem to have completely forgotten about Command and Conquer! This game series was good back then, you have the first command and conquer obviously and then red alert which was later put out for Windows 95.

Both of which don't play on my PC properly anymore :(

The early Sierra Library
Space Quest 2 & 3, Police Quest 1 & 2, and Hero's Quest 2 especially

I also got a huge kick out of Red Storm Rising back in the day.

Pff, still remember getting my ass kicked on 3d alien encounter.

1st encounter: HA, alien n00b, you come to my home planet with 1 fighter!! Eat my lazors!!

2nd encounter: Hmm, equal fight, 10 on 10 or so, I win, but with huge casulaties.

3d encounter: Mommy, big bad alien fleet came to **** my ass :(

I can't believe no one has mentioned Starcraft.
Daggerfall is also really fun, but it's really glitchy.

Jetfighter II- Got me hooked to flight sims.

Jetfighter III- Just can't get it to work in DOS box Sad I remember waiting for the days that I would have an awesome computer to run this game on max settings, lol.

Warcraft, of course.

Command and Conquer series.

XCOM series (new strategy based installment is in the works apparently!).

Traffic Department 2192! For years I have tried to remember the name of that one because I only ever got to play the first chapter of it! God I love that era of games.

We're actually in a second "golden era" of gaming right now. Retro game design is very popular because a lot of game designers - especially independent ones - grew up in that time and want to make games like the ones they grew up on. Except with game saving and better controls, which makes them a lot more playable.

By the way - did anyone else play Legend of Kyrandia? I stumbled across it again the other day and remembered how awesome it was.

I played all 3 parts. The second game, The Hand of Fate, was my favorite Smile.
