New Launcher - will not install

When I download the latest installation file for the new launcher and try to execute it... nothing seems to happen (yes i'm running as administrator). This is the case with every version of the new launcher installation file I've downloaded.

Using Process Monitor by Sysinternals I can see the installation process starts for a split second before exiting. No error message is given.

The last time I ran into a similar issue was when I tried to install the newest Wolfenstein game. In this instance it turned out the installer wold not run while I had a certain USB monitor extender driver installed (hooking up a monitor via USB). I have a feeling something similar is happening but I have no idea what process is locking up resources needed by the new launcher.

Since support for the old launcher is about to end i need to figure this out. It literally took months to figure out the wolfenstein problem and i don't have that much time.

My rig: windows 10 x64 with plenty of memory, gpu and cpu power.

Looks like someone else already did some serious sleuthing on this issue...

I figured out whats blocking it, but not sure why.

I have xampp installed and the windows 10 sdk debugger gave some odd mods being loaded results.

After a few 'go's it fails with this:

Quote:
ModLoad: 73bb0000 73c25000 C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\uxtheme.dll
ModLoad: 71f30000 71f4d000 C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\dwmapi.dll
ModLoad: 71160000 711a7000 C:\xampp\php\ssleay32.dll
ModLoad: 70f80000 71056000 C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\MSVCR110.dll
ModLoad: 70da0000 70ee4000 C:\xampp\php\LIBEAY32.dll
*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for C:\WINDOWS\system32\wow64cpu.dll -
wow64cpu!TurboDispatchJumpAddressEnd+0x536:

After renaming c:\xampp to c:\xampp.disabled the launcher starts.

I know for a fact I have xampp installed so this is probably my issue as well. I'll know for sure after work today. Thanks in advance Don Saraki.

I recommend you post about this in the EVE Launcher forum. The developers working on the launcher keep an eye on posts there and it may be possible for them to do something to fix this.

problem solved.

IIS 8 Express is evidently not compatible with the new launcher. Once I uninstalled IIS from control panel i was able to install the new launcher. My guess is there's an issue with one of the .dll's in the PHP subfolder that comes with IIS. I'm basing this guess off of data in the procmon log i captured.

I did post about this in the recommended forum but I wanted to make sure people saw the resolution here as well.
