Wanting to get into w-space. My corp/alliance histories on my main pilots are jumpy/spotty/questionable. I've purchase/sold characters on the bazaar and have kept track of them to cover myself. I know that w-space corps are a little tighter on security which is completely understandable.

What I'd like to do is take my small corp with all my accounts into w-space and learn the ropes the hard way. Take my hits as they come, then go from there. I'm currently at work, and it's a tad slow so I'll be researching moving/setting up POS's/living but was wondering if anyone had some solid advice or positive/negative experiences that I could take and maybe be ahead of the curve.

I have 3 accounts that I'll be flying and my IRL brother has 1.

He is T3 capable and solid with most subcaps.
I'm T3 capable on my 2 combat accounts.
Have Marauders capabilities, dread, carrier, solid drones and siege T2, as well as full links and logi V on all 3 accounts.

We have lived out of a POS with a wh corp for about 3 weeks before taking an extended break. So it isn't COMPLETELY new, but I don't have a problem saying that set-up, defense, and daily life are foreign to me.

Thanks for taking a minute and any and all information will be awesome and helpful!!!!

So are you looking for an Alliance? Or are you asking to set up in someone else's hole? Or are you asking to be recruited into a corp? Or are you asking for help finding your own hole?

If you want to learn wormholes, just find a hole and move in. Dive in at the deep end. I can put you in contact with a guy who will help you find a decent hole for what you are looking to do?

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Since you asked...

Because only you and your brother are involved, there is a enjoyable way to learn from the experience gained by others over years. Join a wormhole corporation with people that do things that you're interested in. Learn LOTS and then decide to go out on your own.

The hard and boring way is to struggle on your own through the frustrations. With a POS that is soon to be phased out by CCP in favour of citadels. Chances are good you'll give-up.

Thanks for the replies... to touch on them both a little...

*Seraph

A corp or alliance would be nice! But my recent bouncing between alliances/corps is a turn-off, or would be to me if I was recruiting myself.... >.>

Not really looking to piggy-back in someone's space. Not a fan of handouts.

Finding a hole... might be something there. I know that people like to set up in them when able, not looking for a fight, but not one to run from one to claim space either.

I'll definitely keep you in mind on finding one if I run into issues.

Great advice and we've considered that. We've (my brother and me) talked about looking, but it goes back to my corp history and his play time. He has a son that's hitting his terrible 2s.... ....

I'm ok with a little struggle/growing pain as long as we're learning from it. Wasn't aware that POS's were being phased out.... that does kind of put a wrench in things...

Will definitely keep checking the post and posting follow ups as well. At work so........ :)

Okie dokie.

Cheers for the replies. Can I ask what timezone you guys are? And what is it you're mainly interested in? Making ISK or making the pew. Smile

We are CST US. I'm usually on nightly by 0100 Eve time, and depending on activity/ops can usually swing 0500 or so Eve time .

As far as interest... The ability to "out-pilot" someone without local (which I'm not capable of atm...), the changing scenery based on rolling X to open Y which leads somewhere completely different. The option to literally swim in dank isk, the opportunity to grow with an inclusive group for the betterment of all involved, and the ability to learn to fly without being just an F1 monkey in the next war. .... just to name a few...

I think you'll find most wh corps are a lot less strict on security measure than they really ought to be and it's not hard to join one if you want to.
Things like purchased accounts are rarely if ever an issue.
And now with citadels it's even less of an issue.

Talked a little with my brother about this and we are gonna do some searching while continuing to prepare to move and if we see something that looks like a solid fit corp wise then we're going to jump on it. Thanks for the heads up!

Seraph, hopefully we will fit in and can enjoy w-space!

Got some good info so far. Thanks to those that posted and evemailed. After some conversations,... we're on the fence out doing it our way and learning as we go or finding a group to show us the ropes where we can contribute as well!

Accept you going to be poded, multiple times...

Find a c3 with HS static, or anything really with a hs static. its easier that way for new players. There are those who sell them.
Do some research on setting up pos's, you want a large.
Learn to love dscan. Make sure you wh is safe, well as safe as you can make it, and have some alts on adjoin wh.
Have at least one alt in the wh that logs of away from the pos that can scan, so you can get back in when you get poded.

Accept you going to be poded, multiple times...

If you have specific questions, feel free to mail me, or hang out in our pub chat, we fairly helpful Blink as is most of the wh comunity

c2 with c3 and hs static is probably the best new player hole. However since you're able to field marauders you might as well go for a c4 static.

c4s are pretty empty most of the time (wormhole space in general is getting emptier tbh) and you can potentially make more ISK.

Obviously this comes with a risk, c4 systems generally have more incoming wormholes and of course another static.

CCP have made no mention of removing POSes with a hard date so getting a faction large tower and properly defending it with the appropriate mods is a great way of setting up especially as it's just you and your bro.

A large pos is much more deadly than an astrahus, don't skimp on faction pos mods, they are well worth the cost!

Other than that just learn how wormhole mass mechanics work (ie, not always what it says on the tin) and how to roll them effectively (rolling ships, re: higgs anchor rig) and you should be good to go.
