If im slowly moving toward a container on my directional scanner in open space, how close do i need to be in order to be for it to show on my overview?

Oh god man, what kind of container?

mobile tractor : Get combat probes

Mobile depo : Get combat probes

Drones in space : Get combat probes

Forget about cans and everything els unless its directly inline with something you can warp to.

What the **** is this?

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

Have you tried setting multiple bookmarks whilst warping past it, that is if it's in line with any celestials?

If not, I've had some success creating an intersecting bookmark with an alt then warping towards them whilst dropping a bookmark in transit. With some patience you can sometimes get pretty close.

Also, depending upon how desperate you are to get to said cans, I'm sure you can find a ship that will get you there much faster using a shinier mwd and the appropriate rigs..

Is this **** you lost? Chances are they're empty anyway.

oh wow, can you ladder some bookmarks towards it?

or get a ship that goes a little quicker?

I also suggest: booze or other such mind lubricant.

edit: are we there yet?

i actually found a celestial that was slightly closer to the containers and i made it! i didnt have to slowly fly the entire way. unfortunately the containers were guarded by a bunch of turrets. now i know more about POS systems :D

Hey, the movement mechanics aren't all that obvious. I was a little slow on the uptake the first few days as well.

You actually need to fix your Overview. You clearly have containers on the DScan but not the sentry guns. You should add those as well. The POS itself should be on there too.

Dig in to your overview settings. Many things you can warp directly to (at a respectful distance as a suggestion.)

Nobody really tried to answer the OP's question.

I'm not even sure what the correct answer is now due to CCP changing grid size multiple times. Last time I checked which was quite a while ago, wrecks / cans was about 300km range and station / gate guns were 600km range.

The best way to find out for sure is just drop a container and check the range distance when it disappears from the overview.
