Salvage Drones vs. T2

Can Salvage Drones salvage T2 ship wreaks? or faction spawns in null belts?

I only see the accessdifficultybonus attribute in EFT:
"Probability of successful salvage retrieval per module cycle measured in percents."

w/ Salvaging V and Salvage Drone Operation V:

Salvage Drone I = 13
Salvager I = 25
Salvager II = 35

* Salvage Tackle rigs have no impact on the Salvage Drones?!
Are there ways to make Salvage Drones salvage better? Any implants or rigs?

Salvage tackle doesn't do anything for salvage drones. They can salvage advanced wrecks but it can take awhile. Maths are here:

As a general rule, salvaging lots of normal wrecks is faster with drones (as you get more chances per time period), while salvaging a few advanced wrecks is faster with a module. Of course, if you're in a dedicated salvage ship with lots of salvagers the modules always win.

There are no announced plans for T2 salvage drones.

There's an implant..Poteque "Prospector" Salvaging SV-905. It uses slot 9.

A neural Interface upgrade that boosts the pilots exploration skills.

5% increase in chance of salvage retrieval.


For some reason it's listed as an exploration implant, which I have always found strange.

Solecist Project...." They refuse to play by the rules and laws of the game and use it as excuse ..." " They don't care about how you play as long as they get to play how they want."

Salvaging is categorized as exploration.

Salvage drones are a waste of SP and space, especially considering that there is no T2 version of them. You'll salvage much faster with a module.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

I ALWAYS have a salvage drone on mining barge or exhumer. No reason letting all those NPC rat wrecks go to waste.

First you have to know that all ships with salvagers are invincible :)
Second is you can't salvage everything with salvage drones.

Let me give you short math that I did to my alliance mates few years ago:

Salvage materials that you get from wreck are "defined" in moment the wreck is created with big explosion.
Salvaging chance of specific wreck per cycle is sum of access difficulty base and access difficulty bonus.
If it is above 0%, wreck can be salvaged.


Access Difficulty Base
T1 frig wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of +30%.
T1 cruiser wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of +20%.
T1 BS/Capital wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of +10%.
Elite Wreck (all T2 ships) has an Access Difficulty Base of -10%.
Advanced wreck (all T3 ship) has an Access Difficulty Base of -20%.
Sleeper wrecks have an Access Difficulty Base from 0% to -20% depending on the size.

Access Difficulty Bonus
Salvaging Level II, III, IV, V with "Salvager I" module gives +10, +15, +20, +25% (respectively) bonus.
Salvager II module = 7% per level (requires salvaging Level V skill to equip) = +35%
Small/Medium/Large Salvage Tackle I rig = +10%
Small/Medium/Large Salvage Tackle II rig = +15%
Hardwiring - Poteque Pharmaceuticals 'Prospector' PPY-1 implant = +5%

EXAMPLE
Using ship with 400 calibration points as an example, you can attain the following Access Difficulty Bonus with full gear and skills:
Salvager II (module)* Salvaging Level V(skill) + Small Salvage Tackle II (rig) * 3 + PPY-1 (Implant)
(7% * 5) + (15% * 3) + 5% = 85%
Which on sleeper wreck would give 65% chance to salvage in each cycle, +85%-20%=65%.
So all equipment, skills and implants do is raise chance to get salvage in each cycle. What will you get from wreck has nothing to do with your skills because as GMs said long time ago, salvage is defined moment the wreck is created.


NOW, T1 Salvage drones have base Access Difficulty Bonus of 3% and with max Salvage Drone Operation it is 13% (that was checked).
So with max skill to drones you have 3% chance to successfully salvage Tech2 wreck on each attempt (+13%-10%) and no chance in hell to salvage T3 or sleeper wreck (+13%-20%=-7% :)) and that is why you really need salvager module!

---> Do either of you use Adblock in conjunction with Fanboy's Social Blocking list? If so, that filter disables the Like button. If you click on the ABP icon in the top right of your browser then "Open Blockable Items" whilst on a forum post, you should see an entry for "##.likebtn". You can right-click on that entry then choose "Disable filter ##.likebtn" to disable that specific filter, refresh the page then you should have the button back.
