I've done some searching and found that the Dotlan map layout was handmade. Does anyone know of a resource that might have x,y coords for each system in a region?

I want to make a standalone app that uses a similar layout so it can be easily recognizable to people used to dotlan.

EDIT: I should mention I'm already well aware how to use the SDE to create the 3D eve map.

As you said, dotlan is laid out by hand and the map layout bears no relation at all to the X,Y,Z coordinates in the SDE.

The standard eve map 2-D layout is (AFAIK) just the Y and Z coords.

You can use a Force Directed map to automatically make an optimized 2-D layout of any structure consisting of nodes and edges ( ie systems and jumps)
