EVE Launcher version 1045952 has the following changes:
  • Launcher now uses Qt version 5.6.
  • Launcher window isn't shown until page has loaded, unless it's taking a long time to load.
  • Added retries of failed downloads.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Steam users from accessing Singularity.

  • On Windows:
  • Fixing permissions now removes any files from the VirtualStore if the cache is in C:\ProgramData and files are found matching that in the VirtualStore.
  • Added a button to run fixpermissions.exe manually.

  • Also note that a recent GUI update added an auto-launch setting - if enabled, the EVE client will be launched automatically upon login. This also means that if you let the launcher remember the account it will start the client automatically when the launcher starts.

Since the update I only get a grey screen without any content. The server list pops up and says "An exception occurred while creating web GUI - falling back to sever list view". I am able to start the client from there and log in in the client. But it's still pretty annoying ...

That is annoying, yes, I was hoping that a newer version of Qt would be more stable.

Try setting an environment variable called QT_OPENGL to one of the following values:
    desktop
    angle
    software

See http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm if you are unsure of how set environment variables.

Hm, I did submit a bug-report (on a different account though) and therefore did not give any specifics here. Just thought I'd drop a note as it was running well before.

I'm running under Linux (Debian Jessie) on wine-1.8, so cause and steps to address might be different. I did try to set those values for OPENGL (on the shell, those get passed on by wine). Made no difference. If you have any advise for the unsupported platform that would be much appreciated of course.

Have you tried the native launcher? https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6503381#post6503381

    No, will try that now.

Edit: Seems to work. Showed up fine on first startup, loaded an update, then showed its contents kind of unformatted on a white background (including content of settings dialogues). But quitting and restarting solved that too then. All settings seem gone, so gonna work on that now.

    Thank you for your help.

It's still showing all servers as 'offline'. When the hell will this get fixed?

I haven't been able to reproduce your problem on my end for quite some time. Could you please go to %localappdata%\CCP\EVE\Launcher and send me the logs in a private message, and I'll see if I can figure out why it's behaving like this. You can upload the files to an cloud storage such as dropbox and just send the link over.

I've sent you the requested Log files, but, and I don't know why, when I fired the game up today after work (about 20 mins ago) the launcher was reporting the server status correctly. Strange as earlier this morning before it was still showing them as 'Offline'.

    Oh well.

Thanks for the logs. I've changed the procedure we use for displaying server status as of 1.941. If you run into this problem again, don't hesitate to let us know.

Can we please abstain from changing the launcher every day. Some of us pay for being able to do the chores or log on in the first place.
A gray launcher is a dead launcher.

And for jeebus ******* christ explain, why I have to use deprecated software (wine) when I have the newest already and 400 EVE copies?

I concur. I would very much appreciate an option to turn off these constant updates or only apply them when I close the launcher. It's not actually enjoyable having to enter my login credentials every other hour.

For the steam/linux users, is there any way to get reliable pointer across multiple eve clients? I have had two running and i had issues getting the mouse to succuessfully interact with more than one screen at a time.

So, I recently had to create a new user on my windows10 machine to fix an issue with the settings/startmenu and subsequently needed to reinstall the launcher. Now, before that when I logged into the launcher with the credentials of one account all previously logged in accounts, all the previously logged in accounts were automatically logged in. (ie. I logged all my accounts in once without ticking the Remember Account box, close the client, open it again and enter the credentials of one account and all accounts )

After this reinstallation of the launcher, this does not work at all. With every start of the launcher, I need to enter all accounts' credentials individually. Obviously, I do not want to use the insecure Remember Account feature. How can I return my launcher back to the state that it works as described in the first paragraph?

Another thing I would like to know is what the launcher is downloading that is big enough to max out my bandwidth although the indicator in the launcher window says "Ready"? If the launcher/client is ready, I expect it to be just that and not download something in the background of which I do not know what it is.

By default, the launcher downloads code and assets needed to run on the test servers, Singularity and Duality. You can turn those off in the launcher settings if you prefer.

Fair point, I forgot about the test servers. Would be good if we got an indicator for that in the future to see what exactly the launcher is currently downloading, though. There's so much wasted space for ads, but useful functionalities are missing.
