Implants are permanent unless your Pod is destroyed

Insurance covers the cost of the minerals required to build the ship hull only

clipboard is the windows inbuilt copy memory, when you copy something from clipboard it is then pasteable using ctrl+v or right click>paste

- The implants last as long as up until you get podded (your pod is killed and you die)
- Attributes make skill train a little faster. Each skill has two attributes that affect it. The higher those attributes the more skill points per hour are gained. You can see which two they are from the "Show Info" on a skill.
- Insurance only covers the ship, not the fittings or cargo.
- The clipboard is an abstract concept that represents where things that are "copied" (for copy and paste, or cut and paste) to. When you paste things they come from the clipboard. Many different applications on the same computer can use data from the most recent clipboard entry to do different things. Using the clipboard is a method to import or export fittings into and out fo the game.

Implants are permanent, until either your pod is destroyed (as already mentioned) or you decide to replace a lower level implant with a higher level implant. Once you insert an implant into your character, you cannot remove it undamaged. Any attempt to remove the implant destroys it, but you can change to a higher level implant at any time. Changing to a higher level implant automatically destroys the lower level implant that is being replaced. You should get a pop-up message warning you if you try to insert an implant into a slot that already has an implant in it.

Every character actually has 10 implant slots. The first 5 slots are for the basic attributes. Perception, Memory, Willpower, Intelligence and Charisma. The other 5 implant slots are for more specialised types of implants.

You can see if you are using any implants by opening your character sheet (click your character portrait near the top left corner of the screen), which will open a new window. Click on the "Augmentations" option on the left of that window and a list of all implants you are currently using will be displayed. If you are not using any implants, that list will be empty.

The other questions have been answered well enough that I'm not going to say something that has already been said.

They are permanent unless your "pod" (see: escape pod) is destroyed.

I don't have a link, but I will give you the gist of them.

Every skill has two attributes (a primary and secondary) that determine training speed.

The more points you have in specific attributes, the faster skills that rely on those specific attributes train up.

The difference between training skills with the minimum and maximum needed attributes points (even factored in with implants) amounts to about a month over the course of a year.

Ergo... don't see implants as a "must have" thing. They are a luxury item that will give an edge of the long haul.

Also... implants are "clone specific."
This means that if you have "extra bodies" (see: Jump Clones), the implants you have in one clone body will stay with that body.
Jump Clones have nothing to do with Medical Clones (see: clones you respawn into when your escape pod is blown to bits).

The best insurance premium you can buy will cover ~80% of the value of the hull (or more specifically, the minerals that go into making the hull).

Modules and cargo are not covered by insurance.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Tech 2, Faction, Or Tech 3 ships (see: pretty much any ship that has a colorful "tab" on the ship info icon) have terrible insurance values.

The idea is that when you buy one of these "better" ships (pro-tip: they are not always better, some have glaring weaknesses) you PAY for the extra edge they give you... both in initial cost and in ship loss.

This is a abstract computer voodoo thing.

You know how when you right-click in a text box (or any field you can type in) and select "Paste?" You are pasting from the "clipboard."

When you select "Copy" or "Cut" you are overwriting anything in the clipboard and making that your current clipboard info. Which you can then "Paste."

Also... holy hell. Someone who doesn't know copy-paste and clipboard found their way into EVE? What dark magic made this happen?

Clipboard is part of Windows - not unique to Eve. Highlight text and use [CTRL] C to copy and [CTRL] V to paste. Copy/Paste may also be offered on a right-click menu.

One of the most helpful websites in Eve is Eve University. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Skills_and_Learning

Hello,

I just got my first implants today. I found this thread pretty helpful in figuring them out. I just have to get over the fact that they look like glowing heads, that I implanted in my own head...

Welcome to the future I guess!

It should be noted that implants doesn´t make that much of a difference when training skills from rank 1-3 (atleast not the early skills with a 1-5 time modifier). This means it's usually best to hold of with more expensive implants until one have learnt to GTFO with the escape capsule after ones ship is destroyed.

EDIT: This is even more true now with the Thrill of the Hunt daily bonus skill points which is the equivalent of about 5 hours of training for a new character.
