So eve finally enticed me to try it out

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with Wine version 1.7.55

I am running on an Asus K55n with an A8 processor and Radeon HD 7640G

I was following the previous post about how to run eve on ubuntu through wine. I am still having trouble with an executable. My error message is "QtWebEngineProcess.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close" nothing will start.

I think I am having issues with setting up the bin section and am in need of technical assistance. Any insight on what might be the issue I am encountering would be much appreciated.

Hi,

the only help I can offer atm is that you might be better off reposting this question in the Linux subforum. I took the easy path of dualbooting a long time ago...

EDIT:
Oh wait, it just dawned on me that trial accounts might not be able to post there. Hold on a sec..

Thank you for the reply. I am knew to eve and this forum and didn't realize there was a dedicated subforum strictly for linux. I still would rather try to use wine rather than dual boot.

Well, are you on a trial account? If so you might not be able to post there. In that case I'd do it for you to bring those guys' attention to your issue.

EDIT: Hmm, just saw that the sticky over there that is about a dedicated Linux client. Seems like a good alternative to using wine. Anyway, best of luck to you.

I am in a trial account. I was making sure I could get eve to run correctly before getting plex.

I am going to try the Play on Linux route. If this doesn't work I think I may have tried doing too many things and caused two problems trying to fix one, as these things naturally go when you try every solution offered. If this is the case i will reinstall linux aka sure fire way everything goes back to square one and try again. Day two of trial run.

Ouch xD

Anyway, I did the crossposting, so maybe someobody will show up who can help you.
In case you get the game to run, the subscriptions are usually cheaper than PLEX, but first things first.

Thank you for cross posting! I had heard the community was pretty friendly.

I have already looked at the subscription prices and they did seem cheaper then I had originally thought. Also getting out of the console designed obsoleteness will be nice.

Launching the launcher can often be a hit and miss in general, however.

Check out that thread. It has a native linux launcher and it kinda works for the vast majority of people unless you have some special circumstances.

There is also the How To for Ubuntu 14.04 near the top of the forum. That will answer a lot of questions.

Another thing to try is upgrading your wine version to 1.9.11

I'm using Mint 17.2 and the Linux Launcher works quite well for me

I am in the field of trying different operating systems. I'm using ubuntu 14.04 on this computer though I'm trying to keep it from getting bogged down by games. I'll give Mint a go once I get my gaming computer up and running.

I may be gone but I shall return with a vengeance just to waste time mining high sec asteroids.
