This might be a troll, but we have all seen those posts where the person starts by telling everyone they are in the army. Just something I've found funny over the years of interacting with the EvE community.

Lol like that joke, how do you know someone is a vegan?

Don't worry they'll tell you.

You weren't involved in this tragic incident, were you? Vegans Assaulted by Sausage-Wielding Extremists

I am saying you should eat all your body needs, doesnt really matter if its a plant or an animal. But if you would like only plants, you would need to catch up on some good literature and some strange food like tempeh and nori seaweed for vitamin B12 (but nori isnt good source of it and tempeh can have varied amounts). Genmai-saishoku diet is praised for vitamin B12 in vegan diet.

Beta carotene isnt the only way of aquiring vitamin A in a vegan diet. There is around 50 carotenoids that body can convert into vitamin A. Guess from where vitamin A comes in the first place in the animal products? Cool

I support the humane treatment of animals but I'm a skeptic of the vegan movement. It seems the majority of vegans think whining on social media is all they need to do to save animals. Not volunteer, no charities just acting like a social justice warrior. They'll pay 3x the price for "vegan approved" food to impress their friends but won't give to charities, wtf?

I respect a meat eater more who volunteers at the local humane society, gives to charities like the aspca, rescue animals, finds homes for animals, etc. then a vegan with a tshirt saying "meat is murder" that doesn't do anything except scare people away from the cause because of their elitism and won't shut up about being vegan. The majority of vegans are social justice warriors, that's it.

Oddest behavior I've heard of was a person wanted to become vegan so they threw out all the meat they had bought before in the trash so they could start fresh. Wtf? You not only wasted food but you totally disrespected the life of the animals that gave you that meat.

Or I asked my buddy's vegan girlfriend if they were at a restaurant and the waiter brought them meat by accident would they eat it? She said no I would ask them to throw it out. Again total disrespect of the animal.
These are the type of people the majority of vegans attract.

What you can do is to expose how wrong the paleo diet is because those people are eating enough meat for you and 5 of your vegan friends so they're pretty much canceling you out. Cave men didn't eat cows, chickens, etc.

Paleodiet is wrong because its not what paleo people ate.
They ate everything they could eat. They knew nothing about the dietary intakes.

You would be surprised to see how many people think cavemen ate cows, chickens, etc. I'm eating beef jerky and drinking Gatorade, look mom I'm a caveman.

Well, technically he would be, when he would move to a cave in the mountainous Romania and start living off of berries and bears. Never say never.

As for me, I eat everything. The best diet for a human.

I met a guy at a wicca conference thing once who was on a "cave man diet." He'd been at about 280 lbs,, had had a heart attack, and his doctor prescribed the diet to him for health and weight loss. Here are the rules:
-You can eat as much as you want.

-But it has to be in season, and there has to be a lot of variety. As if you were a forager/light farmer/hunter. So sprouts, berries, new greens, mushrooms, etc. in the spring. Fruits, squash, beans, corn, other vegetables in the summer. Pumpkins, cereals in the fall. Cereals and meats in the winter. Something like that, not sure of the precise details.

-Meat had special rules. If you ate any, you had to eat the whole animal. Muscles, heart, liver, lungs, tripe, brains, marrow, trachea, nose-- every possible edible part. I don't know if that was for nutritional reasons, or just to make it where, if you wanted to eat some meat, you had be committed and go "whole hog." Oops The guy I met ate chickens that way. If he wanted to eat some steaks though, he'd have to commit to eating a whole cow of other parts, over ever how many months, before he got any more of them.

Anyway, the guy looked great (like a slim-ish Santa Claus), and said he was full of energy and felt great.

The thing with eating the whole animal is that there are different concentrations of vitamins and minerals in different parts of it.
Maybe its surprising but also bones, skins, hoofs, antlers and the rest, what usually dogs would eat, is a very healthy meal if you prepare it. People of the north made use of whole reindeers and had a special meal for all these parts. Something like a soup.

There is a lot of unusual things you could eat when desperate. Vitamin B12 is in human poo for example, and even in the soil as a product of bacteria. This vitamin is produced in humans by bacteria in colon, but humans cant absorb it from colon. Certain animals have to eat their dung to get all the vitamins they need, else they need suplements. Some like cows have many stomach parts and in some there are bacteria that produce what cow needs to stay healthy. Its really a vide topic to discuss. P

For example, You could make a very good source of Vitamin B12 by spoiling the flour with wild yeast and some strains of bacteria and making a leaven. Wild yeast is the yeast that is in dust that is commonly found around you. Usually eating certain food spoiled with it is not dangerous if the final effect of these infestations is tasty.

When I was a kid a lived a few years outside a little town in upcountry Liberia. (There was a U.N. agriculture experiment station there, and my dad was a farming scientist, that's why). People grew rice, cassava and taro roots, and lots of greens. Great stuff, but unfortunately every big or small diurnal and nocturnal creature living in the bush liked it as much as the humans did.

(I about started writing an essay about all of the invertebrates and vertebrates who have eyes, noses, or feelers or other sensors on your big garden spot. Some are diurnal, the majority are nocturnal. For some 10s of 1000s of years, there have been no winters in Africa. Only regular rain season, monsoon season, and about three months of dry season. No winter, reproduction of organisms all year. Except during the dry season. But plenty of organisms have had plenty of opportunities to evolve into that reproduction niche too).

Anyway, in that system, you'd end up with rice, greens, and palm oil mashed out from palm nuts. Hard to imagine, but protein and salt are what's missing. So grandpas too feeble for hard work stalked and hunted all night, and brought for the pot whatever protein they could bag. Forest rats, pangolins, pottos, monkeys, mongooses, whatever. In dry season, termites swarmed and flew around electric light bulbs and dropped. Fry those guys up in red palm oil, you got something better than fast food fried potatoes. Pure protein, no fat, good calcium too.

Lol.

I took my youngest to a sustainable food fair a few weeks back. He's only 6, but he got stuck into the dessicated crickets and mealworms like a champ. So much so that he nagged me to buy a few bags to bring home. Now he thinks it's hilarious to bring them out when relatives come over.

You might want to keep an eye on that kid. He might be as cowabunga as the dad who took him to a first world insect fry-- but with twice the energy. Smile

I seen several of them at NVIDIA HQ (yes, I work as a contractor cook, with Aramark). I always tell them, "yes, this food has milk/dairy!!" Twisted
