i think the new realize scheduled is to fast for ccp to handle past few months the support center keeps talking about how they have been inundated with tickits maybe they need to slow down take a breath and fix all the current bugs(not just with the camera) before releasing more buggy things..
The support is doing a great job: That is to say, if they find the time to reply.

Well, old camera is gone today :(

The new camera is here and in its current form we will still have to provide twice as much input to look up and down than you do to look left and right. In a space game.

Camera zoom is still spongy and springy (with a ratchet-less scroll mouse) all at the same time making it a chore to use. Sure, i can turn the ratchet on and its easier to control, but then i have to roll the scroll wheel multiple times to do what i used to do with one quick flick.

Absurd...

Not quite as absurd as CCPs advice to 'turn off all the features' to make the camera usable. Why not ship this steamer with the options off by default?

It boggles my mind how CCP can even tie their own shoe laces, they struggle with the fundamentals on too many of these 'reworks'.

Only 5% were using the old camera. We just are not that many players it would seem. So be nice, eh, maybe someone fixes it. For me today I can't set a custom tracking position, and the zoom always resets. I like it but it isn't fun to fly for me. I'd rather ignore all the graphics an play Eve Online as a bunch of data in windows to tell the truth. Well, I mean yeah, because it's so uncomfortable an incorrect compared to normal flight. I'd just rather not look at all at the screen. If I do there is constant camera center adjustment an zoom level adjustment for each system FOV is askew along with the lack of a custom tracking position. o/

That 5% argument falls somewhere in the 'lies, damned lies, and statistics' category.

Not sure which one.

CCP recently stated at the schedule to remove that part of the game, that only 5% of people were using the old camera. Which would mean the custom parts that camera had as apposed to the newer camera. Troll something else, you are wasting your time IMO. The orbit camera does still work an has functionality similar. I would also mention holding the C key to track some items while in flight still using that orbit camera as it was mentioned that the design was for orbit cam to replace a majority of the old. Hope it helps you fly well again. o/

could you make the ctrl+mousewheel thing a keybinding? because i tried to unbind it but it is not under shortcuts, or at least i could not find it after a extensive search.

it happens often to me that i accidentally change the FOV while trying to lock targets with ctrl click.

Yeah, we are going to do something about this. It is quite annoying.

Thank you for fixing this. I still wish I had the option of remapping the scroll FOV or disabling it entirely (since I also use alt for things) but it's not making me ill any more either.

TL;DR Can we have an option to have the old tracking function returned? Fighting is kinda disabled for my style of play.

Hi CCP,

I am really finding the lack of tracking "as it was" a difficult adjustment.

I used auto-tracking with the camera zoomed in quite closely to the ship; it's what I found worked best for me when chasing someone, scouting, when reporting someone's direction of warp, or working out an escape from or initiation of combat. Over the last few months I haven't had as much time to play, so I kinda missed all the news that this would be a permanent change so soon.

I just can't do this now.

The problem specifically for me is that I have look away from the monitor to hit C or hold C and I just lose people doing this. If I hit the wrong key, I lose them, if I look away, I lose them. Palying is an unreliable experience. I am unreliable now.

I do not have the sense of situational awareness I once had with the camera NOT automatically swinging to a selected ship via the Overview. It's like inserting a little hoop to jump that just makes the game a fiddle, instead of rock solid; and forces me to think of something, I didn't once have to stop everything to think about.

It's about a fraction of a second, but that fraction of a second is "everything".

This was all second nature, and it worked! And it took ages to get to there!

Surely this playstyle can be accommodated by reinstating the function to hit C, and that would be that for PVP?

CCP do you get where I am coming from? I wish I had not missed an opportunity to engage earlier, but I've been busy of late.

Kind regards, B

I never understood why people delete posts.

My main complaints are the halved vertical sensitivity which is rather annoying.
and the violent whip around when tracking.

Those I couldn't fix by tinkering with the optioin

For anyone still struggling with the C key – the new camera does actually have auto-tracking now. You can hotkey it under Shortcuts > Combat > Toggle Auto Tracking.

I had used the New Camera for a bit an couldn't figure it out so I switched back to the old. Now being forced. I got used to using an Orbit camera as it sounded like it was designed to be the basic generic camera of Eve to fill most requirements. A day or two using the orbit camera an C click when I wanted to track something was fine. I noticed the FOV changed an the Ships looked better, and being in a orbit while warping gave me the perception of going up or down an all in all I wouldn't say it was that bad at all. I liked it. Was fun, nice job. Thanks for the posts an information on it.
