Funny thing is, what I said is true on all fronts - I understand the immaturity of most players - its common for kids to act this way actually.

There's a reason that there is different kinds of hits : glancing, wrecking, missed and scratching.
Even if it's totally RNG.

P.S.: EVE online is not a simulator by any remotely kind of means

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

First and foremost, almost nothing in a PC game will have real world physics. This is done for balance issues, not because the devs dont understand how real life physics work.

Example. A ship in eve going 1KM/sec is only going 2236 MPH or mach 3. For a civilization that is not only capable of space travel but FTL travel you would think they could reach sublight speeds better than what earth achieved in 1952 especially considering they were descendants of earth.

Example #2: Explosion velocity of missiles. Explosion velocity of rockets are a mere 150 m/s . Explosion velocity of most common explosives exceeds 5000 m/s about 36 times faster. But slowing missiles explosion rates was a way to balance them. Technically, no ship in game could outrun the explosion velocity of even the most basic explosives. Also missiles should be way more powerful than guns because you can fit much larger warheads on them. If they used real world physics, missiles would out dps everything by a large margin and the game would be boring.

Also, you dont have a 100% chance even in optimal. Chance to hit is largely based on ability to track the target. Optimal and falloff mostly control the effectiveness of the hit. Projectile weapons have excellent tracking but are very short range. Also again we are thousands of years in the future. It would only be logical to assume that they have advanced tracking computers. They could just make us miss more and faster cycle( so same dps) but really that would only be for cosmetic affects. Also they are tracking large targets. A frigate has a sig radius of around 40 m. Thats 120 feet. Its like tracking a 747 moving at mach 1-6 at distances of 1 KM plus. Its not that difficult to track.

As a last note, you should familiarize yourself with the aegis combat system on aegis class destroyers( thats real life not in game). It has excellent tracking of fast moving smallish targets. Imagine a couple of thousand of years of improvements on that system.

First of all, I am a US Army Colonel soon to be promoted to a 2-star general. No joke. I say this because what I've noticed in gunnery and PvP is, that the new WAS formula for hitting targets IS NOT A REAL WORLD SIMULATION.

IF DEV's need to contact me directly, I can give my credentials and talk personally, FYI.

In-game it appears to be virtually impossible, as far as I can tell, to miss your targets until the fall off range is exceeded with projective weapons.

This DOES NOT REFLECT REAL-WORLD performance and conditions.

Please change this - there's no way that anyone can hit 100% of the time in Real Life, so please make the war/fighting dynamics as close to real as possible.

Thank you.

It's not meant to be realistic. It's meant to be functional.

Also, I can assure you it is totally possible in game to get misses with any gun system way before you get out of falloff. In fact, even in optimal you can get misses.

What absolute poppycock. Why is your background important, as it has no bearing on EVE (unless you are a space Captain)?

I am an astronaut, currently en route to Mars on a top secret mission, so therefore CCP should change the 'space submarines simulator' aspect of the game, as that is arguably far more unrealistic than the accuracy formula which you mention.

I can provide pictures of deep space should you need photographic evidence.

So army personnel are the new vegans?

This might be a troll, but we have all seen those posts where the person starts by telling everyone they are in the army. Just something I've found funny over the years of interacting with the EvE community.

Weeall, your credentials and all considered, in a world of ray guns with no way to really establish a hit/miss ratio, in order to make each race's main weapons comparable in capability - so not one has a significant advantage, and therefore becomes the only race anyone will play...certain liberties must be taken.

If we start getting all real and stuff then we can just count out warp drives. You'd roll a toon, set it off on a trip to Jita...have your wife/husband on the ship, raise kids to adulthood, die of old age, and have their children's children arrive.... This of course wouldn't really appeal to the attention spans of the average gamers.

I could go into the size of stations in relation to how many ships are "parked" in them...the list is rather lengthy. Take it from an old, retired senior NCO...suspend belief. Play along. It's a game - after all.

PS Congrats on jumping from O6 to O8, completely by-passing Brig. Gen., by the way.
That's quite a leap in pay, as well as reprieve from seniority. I'm guessing you're a Reservist.

Well, that's great. Leadership is in good hands. He's slam dunked on his original post, so he erases it, changes the subject line and accuses everyone of being rude for being truthful.

It's more rude to present yourself as an authority, then try to slip bovine scatology by as though it's fact, than it is to react to that attempt in an outraged and inflamed fashion. Frankly, my response to the O-OP was quite measured and polite considering the questionable character of the poster obviated by his/her own words.

Nice try. No cigar. Fortunately the original post remains in the form of QUOTE.

TYVM. Have a nice day!Big smile
