Capitals: Names on Ships

This has probably been mentioned once or twice before but I think it's worth bringing up now at a time when the structure for doing killmarks has finally been developed, and might be able to be applied for adding names to ships.

Bottom line is - as everyone knows, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Ships are disposable.

However capital ships are less so - you lose them less often, they're huge, and it would be amazing if the Ship's name could appear on the ship in big bold writing like on ships and submarines.

Since Killmarks are now a thing....it would be cool if this could be implemented on capitals on the same section of the hull where killmarks go, in the same color etc. Probably wouldn't be that hard to implement now (it could be part of the killmark section) and it should apply on Capital ships only (one more thing to make them special and separate from smaller hulls).

TL;DR: Add ship names on capitals where the Killmarks go, in the same color and style.

since when are capitals less disposable than sub caps?

TTP (time to penis) on visible ship names would be 0.1 seconds.

Seriously now... I can't count the number of times I have seen ships named "pussywagon" turn up on D-Scan.

I don't consider an Anshar disposable vOv you should never lose one.

what do you mean i lost an Ark when we were baiting out the nyx of a local LS gang totally disposable. if you can't afford to lose it don't fly it and if you can afford to lose it it's disposable.

Actually, it's not, from a certain perspective. Everything in Eve is inherently disposable, because there's a potentially unlimited supply. That doesn't mean go throw them around willy nilly and lose 7 billion ISK ships on a lark - but if it nets you a Super kill, some people consider that worth it. If you don't, that's fine, but don't berate others for not holding your opinion about the intrinsic value of virtual space pixels.

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

Hell the low sec group my son is in loses carriers and dreads all the time and on the manufacturing side we simply keep them coming out in an endless supply. The old phrase nothing ventured nothing gained seems to apply. if you are not at risk of losing it then you are not really using it for it's intended purpose. The only place in this game where ship losses can and should be avoided would be in high sec missions and even then you lose them from time to time if you are living life on the edge.

This.

As an added bonus... "baiting" makes the local rabble wary of stray Freighters and Jump Freighters in their area. Especially if you pull off the same trick more than once with different characters.

Eventually you get to a point where you can literally ferry stuff back and forth with minimal support because people are too scared it MIGHT be a trap. Pirate

You can already name all your ships that should be enough, but adding that name to the ships ID sounds like a coding nightmare and incredibly annoying. Every Capital ship built would need to be independent.

Well that would be historically accurate. WWII Bomber: Puss'n boots

Getting the alliance decal on the ship would be neat, though.

While ship names on the hull is kind of a silly idea, IMO, the people saying no because of body-part ASCII art and profanity have obviously never been in local with TEST. The ASCII art there is MUCH more detailed than anything you could put on the side of a ship, and much more noticeable.

Or a tramp stamp on the back of a JF!

"Tomahawks?"

I would totally do that. Seems fair enough.
