All,

If I have 3 Mining Drones out mining and 2 Light Drones out orbiting me. If the Light Drones are set to aggressive will they attack while the mining drones still mine?

If i launch the light drones with the mining drones I can engage the asteroid and the mining drones will go but the lights will not attack it right?

I haven't had multiple types out at the same time before.

Thanks in advance for any help.

get a velator (gallente rookie ship). It can hold 2 light drones. Try it out and see what happens. The worst thing will be you lose a rookie ship.

Sometimes when i get bored , i make two of my drones fight to the death.

I have also been known to feed disobedient drones to my geckos.

I'm not sure how this helps the op but i felt compelled to share.

Drones can be managed in groups, bear in mind though they are about as obedient as angry squirrels so you may need to explicitly tell each group what to do repeatedly or risk losing your nuts.

Edit: spelling is hard.

If your drone setting is "aggressive", combat drones will automatically attack any object that does something aggressive to you (and is inside your drone control range), but the other object will have to start the aggression before your drones will react to it. Space rocks don't shoot at you so your combat drones won't shoot at the space rocks unless you specifically order them to do that.

If your drone setting is passive, you must target whatever is attacking you and then give the drones a direct order to start shooting back, even if you are already being attacked.

Be careful of using the aggressive drone setting while mining when Circadian Seeker NPC's are nearby. As long as you don't give the seekers a reason to shoot at you, they'll hang around for a little while and scan some nearby stuff, then move on. I keep my combat drones on a tight leash if seekers are nearby, just in case.

The most obvious way to manage mining drones and combat drones at the same time is to move the drones into 'groups', one group for the miners, the other for the combat drones.

Open your drone bay, select one or more drones, right click, select the "move to" option. If you don't have any groups set up, you'll be prompted to type in a group name, then the selected drones will be grouped together under that name. You can now give an order to the group and all the drones in that group will perform that order. You can have several groups of drones in space at the same time as long as the total number of drones is 5 or less and you stay within your ship's bandwidth limit.

The passive/aggressive drone setting appears to be global and applies to all your drones, I don't know how to set one group to passive and another group to aggressive at the same time. Maybe it's possible, but I don't know how to do it.

Especially in high sec be extremely careful having drones set to aggressive, they have in the past and can in the future put you in a position where you get exploded by Concord.

as long as your safety is not on red your drones cannot perform any action that will get you concorded

Squirrels you say?

edit: I would hate to run into this one.
