I've been reading a lot recently, and keep coming across the term that some things can be "scripted" and others cannot be "scripted"; what are they talking about?

For example, like targeting enhancements, cannot be scripted, what does that mean?

some modules you can load scripts on to, sensor booster can load targeting range or scan resolution, you can switch between the 2 - thats scripted

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

There are many modules out there that provide multiple, small stat benefits.

However, there are some modules that can be loaded with a special "ammo" that zeros out other stats and maximizes one.

For example, an unscripted tracking disruptor will lower both the optimal range and tracking speed of your target. But if you load the optimal range disruption script, it will reduce optimal range by a greater amount without affecting tracking speed. Or you can load the tracking speed disruption script and it will lower their tracking speed by a greater amount without affecting optimal range.

You can see all the possible scripts in the market section Ammunition & Charges -> Scripts. If you show info on one of them (say ECCM script) and go to the attributes tab, it will show you what module it is "Used with" (in this case a Sensor Booster, which can also load Scan Resolution Scripts and Targeting Range Scripts).

Thanks guys, that makes a lot more sense, I see now, the scripts work just like a laser crystal or ammo in a turret.

Yeah, pretty much.

They call them "scripts" because supposedly these are electronic devices that can be "modified" or "reprogrammed" with a "script", as far as the lore.

go into the market UI. Top section is " Ammunition & Charges ". Expand that and second from the bottom is subsection "Scripts". Or you can search the market for "script". Read through the descriptions there and you should see what everyone is talking about.

If you have more questions after that do a show info on one of the scripts and play around in the tabs. There is a "used with" tab that shows which modules use that script.

I often advise new players to "window shop" through the market with the " show only available " check box unchecked in settings to get a feel for what is out there. It is a good way to get familiar with the game.

EDIT:
After posting I read through and saw that Cara already mentioned this. Thanks Cara.

Unchecking only available is one of the first things I do whenever I reinstall EVE. It's one of those microsoft style options that default to on, like hide extentions for known file types. If the default option only causes problems and confusion and doesn't prevent them, then it shouldn't default to on.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Se-Bos are now ECCM too. With a script for each race.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.
