When I plan a route (set destination) I have noticed that some systems in my route displays as "+", a filled box and an empty box. Does this mean anything?

might be a waypoint

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

Like Lan said the plus sign is probably a waypoint. The filled boxes are just systems on the route and the empty boxes are stations that you dock in.

If you have an empty autopilot route you can add a destination a few jumps away and then add a station a few jumps from there and see the difference. You can always right click on any destination, be it a system or a station, and select remove waypoint to get rid of it.

Thanks for the info. I tested it and it is exactly like that. The + is if I set a waypoint to a system only, and the empty box is if I set a waypoint to a station.

colour denotes sec status
a plus denotes a solar system waypoint
a box with a black square in it denotes a station waypoint
a coloured box denotes a [pass through] system.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

Please Note: Any advice given comes with the caveat that nothing will be suitable for every situation.

Just wanted to add after designating multiple waypoints, click the 'A' above the line of boxes showing your route and select 'Optimize'. That will reset the order of waypoints into the shortest amount of jumps.

Also if you optimize more than 12 waypoints the game will lock up for a few minutes while it's re-calculating a new route.
