Anyone remember this old faction artwork? What happened?

Yeah, as if even 10% of people aged like 15 or under have the attention span let alone maturity to play a game like EVE to begin with...-_-

They can't really pull the sexist excuse either, since they had this artwork in the game already anyway. There are half-naked sprites of 'Exotic Dancers' and such still in the game, too.

I was 16 when I started playing eve a few years ago, must be the magic number of maturity.

There is an 11 y/o player currently giving one of the biggest highsec ganking organizations (CODE. - which they say "always wins") a hard time.

Some kids can amaze you.

If you talk about 'Dad and son' then this 11yo does not do all by himself. I think it's more like in RL: dad leads son follows.

I really wish they'd at least add more hair styles to the cash shop. Come on, CCP, that's low-hanging fruit and it's win/win.

Hairstyles are the most work-intensive part of avatars. Probably CCP can release 50 clothing items for the time/effort required to make a single hairstyle... assuming there's still someone in the company who didn't need to learn how to make hairstyles to actually make them.

I dont think all hairsyles are so work-intensive. Only those animated and really, really, complex.

Oh they are. Each hairstyle consists of some 2,000 to 3,000 individual hairs, which have to be placed and animated one by one. Of course this is not how things work in industry, but it's CCP what we talk here. It's their engine and it works like this: 3,000 hairs animated one by one so it takes quite a while until they all behave naturally and don't interact too badly.

This is also why they didn't intended to add hats as each hat would require a specific hairstyle+hat for each original hairstyle, so they'd duplicate all hairstyles with each hat. Again this is not how things are done in industry but... ¡¡CCP¡¡

(The obsession with handcrafting things is an old tradition in EVE; FAI they never had a mission builder tool and thus missions were built by hand typing values in a table(!), and even now probably the mission building tools developed in recent years are nothing like what industry uses).

But the hair in EVE looks like this this. There is video from 2011 fanfest where they were talking about hair and character creator in general. About APEX.

Yep, that's pretty much how everyone does it for games. It'll get more or less more complex depending on the game, but nowhere near "2-3000 individually animated strands of hair".

The only time you see hair of that complexity is in pre-rendered sequences such as cutscenes and movies, and even then the hairs aren't individually animated in the way that character models and such are. They work via a physics system, which automatically animates them in similar fashion to real hair based on the movement of what they are attached to.

Alas, I suspect that post from Indahmawar Fazmarai was a troll anyway though~ xP

While I welcome more fashion possibilities, I'd be satisfied for now if they just gave us access to other races' clothing (and/or hair) options. Please. It can't be that hard.

The hairs were placed one by one, not with a brush tool. And then they had to be tested with the physics engine since each hair interacts individually with other elements. It is NOT industry standard, and has nothing to do with lightning / FX, it's a modeling and animation issue.

I've been waiting for a pre-Incarna dress (basic 'Structure' dress) for more than 5 years. Don't. Count. On. It.

I second the motion for more over-the-top hairstyles and outfits. Even a return of some of the stuff we had in the old character creator would be awesome.
