Half reset?

It seems that once in a while when I log out, reboot, and back in later my settings reset..... half of them. Some things stay the same... and some don't. Graphics reset randomly to default but keep my resolution or vise versa.

My windows seem to always be in the arrangement I have setup but things like my folders for drones are gone and I have to reassign those. Also that annoying and worthless achievements deal is back on my screen along with help tips every 10 seconds when I do something.

I am running EVE on my XP laptop while I travel but don't seem to have this problem on my Win7 rig.

windows XP isn't supported anymore you know that?

proparly the best thing is to upgrade you XP machine to windows 7 so it runs fine again.
PLus it has added protection as XP isn't patched anymore.

This is where I put my signature, right?

I had the same problem awhile back, and finally sent in a ticket. The fix from ccp was to log into game as administrator. I was using windows 8.1 at the time so it was pretty easy. Not sure if that is an easy option in XP. But it worked. While logged on as admin I set everything up and when I logged on as regularyly ever thing was fine, have had no problem since.

Upgrade to 7 while you can still do the free jump to 10...free is nice and 7 is cheap now id guess

And once you get 10 can drop back to 7 and still be able to go back to 10 if ever you wanted

I'd say upgrade to 7, but don't downgrade to 10.

Unless you have a thing for negligible performance increases, clunky UIs, and sending your browsing history to US agencies so they can make a profile on you.

I'm a network engineer... my work laptops stay XP for ease of firewall and network work stuff. I just download EVE to the XP laptop as it has a link for XP machines.

I would go 7 on everything but XP is still the best for my work in the field. I'll have to check the laptop as my other 2 XP laptops don't do this with EVE. (when I have a good day off I quad box em)

Yea, just finished a huge migration contract where the customer went to 10..... The paid me to go back to all their sites and put it back to 7 haha.

The US gov is just now upgrading to 7 and it has been a nightmare. Some of their laptops are.....get ready.... still running 3.1 and they are trying to throw some RAM in and get 7 on them. Takes 7 hours to do this...and then they go ahead and order a new laptop haha. I won't complain!! I am getting some of my taxes back for beer money.

I didnt say stay on 10... i said get it while its free then go back to 7 if you want.... that way if for any reason in the future you need 10, all you have to do is install it, else if that day ever comes you pay for it 0 dollars now is better than 200 then imo

I never get the newest Windows... If it works the way I want it to then I stay with it until I am forced up. Usually by then the newest version has had a couple years to "smooth out". Seems every other version is junk.... 98 to XP had junk Me in between. XP to 7 had junk Vista in between.... 7 to 10 had junk 8 in between.

For me, I don't need all the fancy media crap and features from new versions. especially when they make a point to move sh!t around to where you have to take extra steps to use it.

Most of my clients REQUIRE XP on jobs to configure switches and routers. Win 7 has too many steps and locks to go around and most companies remote in much easier to an XP laptop if need be. Anyone who does field work knows XP is golden despite no support. Eventually it will be phased out though.

As far as gaming, I am an old school gamer (still have those cereal box sized boxes games used to come in) that some only barely play on XP bc they came from the 95 days. Eve is fine on XP and since my M17x is a nightmare to run around everywhere I prefer my little HP laptops for Eve. Eve is not all that intensive or demanding...It's nice aside from the above prob.

I personally use 7 but i like to know that if anythig were to need 10 its a simple free upgrade, in fact i burned a disc for a clean install after i did the free upgrade.

10 wasnt bad, least not like 8, but i still like 7 more... my only point was now i own 10 and can upgrade my main pc if i ever want or need to.

With micrisofts track record for pricing operating systems i figured if i could get it free now i should since id hate to pay later knowing i failed to do a simple upgrade....

Upgrade and get 10 now then remove it back to 7 imo... else you will be kicking yourself later if you have to get it for some reason when it costs 100 or 200 or whatever obsene price microsoft decides on.

Chances are it will never be needed but why risk it imo

Im a networking engineer as well, and windows 10 is the worst operating system when you leave it configured by default. Windows use your machine to update other computers, which result in the computers of your network to have a very high ping (on slow 1 mbps connection up anyway). On top of this Microsoft gather a whole lot of data about your activities

I wouldn't recommend using XP, 7 seems fine. We have 7 at the office and I never had to regret XP. I use windows 10 for my personal computer, but I had to change so much configurations it's almost not windows 10 anymore.
