Thanks all for your views. It pretty much sums up how I thought players feel about EVE. I last played in 2009 and it seems to have kept a loyal player base during my absence over those years.

"EVE 2" would be quickly overtaken by EVE's gerontocracy unless it was a completely different game... and maybe not even.

There is only one EVE. When it's over, it's over.

A fraction of it is a loyal player base. The post-Incarna children are a different kind, though.

Yeah, I'm starting to worry about a lack of these threads recently. UghBlink

It wasn't meant as a elitistic commentary. Younger pilots are not EVEjunkies and can get off this sh*t easier than the old farts who knew the game in its "We vs The World!" age.

I know the feeling. I feel like an old man sitting on his front porch thinking of the fun times with his now dead friends when it comes to EVE.

Can't bring myself to unsub although I rarely play anymore.

I don't want EVE 2, and neither does most of the community. Why would you want EVE 2? It's like wanting World of Warcraft 2.

EVE has improved massively since 2003 in all aspects including graphics, animations and you name it.. There would be literally no use to create EVE 2. What is worse, it would divide the community and split it far too much.

Implying that CCP isn't a modern, competent and passionate game developing company that can't improve upon their game without a complete rewrite of the game's code from the bottom up and slapping a "2" at the end of the title.

No really, tell me with a straight face the game hasn't improved visually and mechanically since 2003.

I dare you!

TBH EVE 2 is already in the works, at the very min base don the vision of 2014 (which may or may not hold true) CCP will add new ways to play that might someday connect to eachother in a cohesive game.

Or they may not. Personally, i think that if the other new eden products catch on, and 1 are doing decently atm beyond eve, we won;t need an eve 2, as eve will just keep going.

As previously stated, EVE is an organic developing game. It has changed significantly since the early days and will continue to change and evolve.

Effectively, we already have 'EVE II' and 'EVE III' by using the same universe but for very different games with DUST and VALKYRIE. Both of these add a different dimension and build more depth into the expanding 'New Eden' universe.

Clearly this is the correct way to go with new spin off titles based in the same universe rather than 'EVE II' opening up new areas of gaming within the strongly established universe will add more strength and financial stability to all titles.

No, never, not in a million years. This is an MMO, it doesn't need a '2', it grows and evolves and continues to live and breathe.

EVE has already massively changed over time, with complete overhauls in many areas, certainly visually, really you are way beyond '2' already if you want to map it out.

You think eve will last that long? Mmorpg is not the same like 10 years ago. Eve however its progress is also slower. This means people do not want slow games any more. So my question do you think eve will stay other 10 years? i do not think so. In this current meta tbh. For me this game end`s in the summer or something greats need to be happening. But i guess not.

This summer?

Well, I guess this is the game that's always dying after all.

What's the point? They're going to keep updating this one as long as we keep paying for it. Eve 2 would just be Eve 1 with less content.
