Would you like to see EVE2?

This is my third attempt at trying EVE. It has always fascinated but the steep leaning curve was a tad off putting. But as Eve and myself are 13 years older I like the slower place of things, whether it be mining, refining skills learning about different ships etc. But 13 years got me thinking, was there ever any talk of an Eve 2? If there was ever such a thing how would players like to see it? Would they like to see a better pve experience or a hardened pvp experience? A flight model where players flew there ships or continued with the issued command structure?

Be interested in players views who have played a lot longer than me

Little point, Citadel has almost nothing in common with the first release 13 years ago. The way the game is written allows complete overhauls in stages and parts.

No, never, not in a million years. This is an MMO, it doesn't need a '2', it grows and evolves and continues to live and breathe.

EVE has already massively changed over time, with complete overhauls in many areas, certainly visually, really you are way beyond '2' already if you want to map it out.

You think eve will last that long? Mmorpg is not the same like 10 years ago. Eve however its progress is also slower. This means people do not want slow games any more. So my question do you think eve will stay other 10 years? i do not think so. In this current meta tbh. For me this game end`s in the summer or something greats need to be happening. But i guess not.

I would like to see more games that are part of EVE universe but not EVE Online 2.

That's eerily similar to the reason US cinema gives why they won't make a slow burn, dense science fiction movie anymore. Since Star Wars came out, scifi = fast-paced action with lasers. They say it's because no one wants to pay to see a scifi movie where there isn't a down-on-his-luck good guy running down a corridor shooting lasers over his shoulder at the evil army chasing him all set to a driving score and, of course, shot in leading shakey cam.

EvE has maintained a relatively constant user rate over the years. Sometimes the devs screw up royally. Sometimes they do everything perfectly. We'll probably see flight yoke compatibility introduced if/when the hardware allows for faster server ticks. Citadels might eventually(patent pending) lead to renewed interest in WiS. Bounty hunting will eventually be reformatted into a system that makes pissing off industrialists a horrible idea. The change to watchlisting has given supercap pilots some room to breathe while pulling the rug out from under the merc community. Expect to see an overhaul to intel in the near future.
We're all waiting anxiously for the next big feature change to be pitched by CCP.

In short, EvE doesn't really fit the mold of games that get repackaged and re-released as sequels.

And no, Johan Civire, EvE is not dying.

This.

EvE is a persistent parallel universe and social simulation more like Second Life (anyone still remember?) than a classic themed game. A real "EvE2" would mean, shutting down the current universe, voiding all the history and start over on a blank sheet ... why should CCP ever do that? This would kill the company.

At first I missed the ability to dogfight with a joystick.

That would have been so eighties however it doesn't qualify for EvE 2.0 but rather EvE 0.2 beta Blink

Yeah! Let's have an EvE sequel! It'll be good because it's NEW!
Forget that offputting steep learning curve, endgame content available immediately via collection of coins floating in space!
Participating in dogfight pvp unlocks bigger (better) ships until entry is granted to the Titan Stadium™!!
It would make a great app!
I can see millions of teens playing it for weeks on their phones!
Have your people talk to my people!
Have your bodyguard talk to my HR rep!
They can make a video!
Time is money get out of my office!!

I say no to there ever being an EVE2 but I will say EVE's development is soooo slow even citadels now are not implemented fully. Compared to most other MMO's EVE is damn slow, and not the good kind of slow.

IMO CCP has meanwhile found a good balance between bugs and release speed ... although it's a bit unfair to compare a sandbox MMO with theme parks. Theme parks need to put out new content more frequently to keep their players busy.

No reason for EVE not to be here in 10 years, unless the Devs kill it off.

Been around since the beginning.

I'm already king of this dung heap. If you change it, I'll have to start all over flat-footed, and I'd never do that. SO:

technical reason technical reason don't change this perfect game. gaming philosophy reason gaming philosophy reason don't change this perfect game. general competition rationale general competition rationale don't change this perfect game.

tl;dr Don't change this perfect game!

If we get chased by zombies, I'm tripping you.
