As the last remnants of the mega coalitions created under Dominion sov continue to crumble, 0.0 space has become much vaster allowing other entities to stake a claim and build their dreams. This has been recently highlighted within Eve through the Upwell Consortium/Citadel story and mechanics. The combination of changes within Eve including both the mechanics and the political landscape has made it extremely viable and profitable for entities to venture forth into 0.0 rather than playing the 0.01 game in the over saturated trade hubs of Jita, Amarr, Rens and Dodixie. Those that prove daring and cunning enough to establish local industry within 0.0 will also be able to outsell importers due to logistical advantages. Those who refuse to change with the times will compete over ever shrinking margins in highsec and the imagined safety they imagine that they have.

Serenisima Syndicus, translated as the Serene Syndicate, [SERSY] is project starting up as a new way to help industrialists, miners, builders and traders gain access to resources and markets and develop their corporations. It is based on the belief that the base of industry is its people, from miner to director, and that individuals carry an intrinsic value which in numbers can multiply this value by many factors. But what makes SERSY different as an alliance than other groups?

Names should reflect purpose and the first place to start in order to understand SERSY is with the name itself: Serenisima Syndicus. It is inspired by “The Most Serene Republic of Venice,” an economically oriented state in Italy that dominated much of the Mediterranean Trade and beyond. It was a thalassocracy, and other historical examples include the ancient Phoenicians, the Hanseatic League and the Dutch Empire. Like SERSY, these were economically oriented entities that had mercantile interests at the forefront rather than destruction.

It is not that we necessarily carry some ideological opposition to the way most Eve alliances play the game; we’re simply choosing to focus on a different aspect and playing a parallel role focusing on the economic aspect. Eve is full of chin stroking would-be mastermind spymasters, scammers, and meta gamers. It’s lost its mystique as very few of these individuals actually accomplish much. In today’s Eve simply having a practical and direct platform is actually the rare sight.

Two good games to compare would be the Total War Series and the Anno series. Both deal with the development of your civilization. However the vantage point and focus of each game is quite different. The first’s primary focus is the set piece battles themselves, whereas economics is secondary and only a means to get more troops for future battles. You’d play Total War because you enjoy the battles themselves rather than the empire managing aspect. The second game focuses on the economy with the combat itself as secondary and only a means of protecting resources. Anno, through all its incarnations, has always focused on economics and empire managing. War itself is not the point of the game. They’re both great games but SERSY chooses to play the game with the latter’s mindset.

But how do we protect our members and our interests if we don’t have a military wing, especially out in 0.0? Establishing a standing military as it were would divert resources from our economic interests. Instead we will be aligning ourselves with militarily strong partners and working through their areas of influence. That allows SERSY to focus its members on specializing on industry/mercantile interests better than anyone else. To be clear, we seek to have as many friends, thus expanding our market access, with as many groups as possible. War is not our business…business is our business. If two entities we are blue with fight each other we would also be completely neutral between all the parties involved. We seek to enhance the capabilities of all of our friends through our industrialism.

We currently have access to a constellation that includes two dead end systems, one with ice and the other with -1.0 sec status for the most valuable ores. We live with a capable military alliance that is eager for us to develop their market while providing us security.

What sort of corporations are we looking to work with?

Arrow 1. Corps should at least be able to field a 5 man mining fleet a few times a week. This isn’t some pap requirement or a fleet quota but we need people that actually play the game.

Arrow 2. Have some sort of ship replacement program for your miners even if you can only afford ventures. Just make sure everyone can participate.

Arrow 3. Have a business plan. Our constellation is rich enough that you could simply mine rare ores, compress and sell it. If that’s what you are able of doing right now that’s fine. But there needs to be a process where your miners are paid for their work.

Arrow 4. Have an entrepreneurial spirit. At SERSY we are proud capitalists. There’s nothing wrong with developing a strong business where its members are taken care of, where people work together and the result built produces profits. Grow, develop, do well for yourself and your members.

If you are the CEO of an industrial corp and you are interested in access to the resources and contacts that can help you grow your corp, send a mail to Marcus Ulpius Trajanus and Suzuko Togenada.
