Fleet Overlay map

Would it be useful for a fleet commander to have a little map like the new map, or a filter in that map itself... that allowed him to see the positions and had little blinky lights to identify said fleet mate and location in system. I just kinda had that idea on the John and thought Id share.

I think itd look cool at least to see where this guy is or that guy is warping to... or something, just a soft led highlight over the system map itself? idk...

iirc the old map has this feature when viewing the solar system map, i know the starmap will tell you which system contains fleet members aswell

Old starmap had that feature (I think new one does?) but only for systems after a 2-5 minute delay.

I'm 52k off your starboard bow...nope, directly beneath...nope to your port....yo. Stop rotating.

If we get chased by zombies, I'm tripping you.

Hmm, I know what you mean, the statistics for corp or fleet members in space. This though, would be like the probe scanner overlay on the combined star and system map. It would show you not only members of fleet in the universe, but also the system to better detail. This function may, like the new camera features, help FC's projection of perception to the battlefield. Another interesting way to interpret data, with a graphical interface, allowing for more precise and quicker decision making for his fleet, for either safety or offensive means. I like to think it could fit in the map and you must be able to control the window size, so you can organize it on your HUD.

They say ideas on the John or in the shower are often ideas that should be written down or whatnot. lol. :) Id be totally surprised though if this took off and they made it a real function in eve. Itd be nice to have a small square map in lower screen for FC allowing him to see all elements regarding his fleet and its position and surrounding environments.

I never said the starmap was realtime, afaik the fleet members in system one was real time or atleast very close

I was also meaning more specifically though the location, icons of the fleet members in system or surrounding... so the FC could see a visual representation of his fleets location in real time, perhaps thru out the universe. Is there anything I can do to help?

Gods it would help just to know if your whole fleet made it when you called jump. Wormholes have no local to visually check so a comms call is required. You should crap more often if your this productive.

I am NOT crazy they made me take my medication this morning!

This sounds interesting but there is also something to be said about the "fog of war" so a UI showing you everything would be too much. I'm not saying that is what you are suggesting, just that not having such information in a lot of cases is also something that is important to the game.

If we had a proper C4ISTAR FCs would rejoice but that is a whole lot of development work and also game changing stuff.
Trying to piece together the information from fleet mates and their respective locations and vectors would be a real mess if there is no means to add extra custom layers of marks on top of the position&vector visualisation layer.
