Returning Player Industry Question

So I've just returned after a decently long hiatus only to find out that industry (research/invention/manufacturing) has changed A TON.

I can actually use station services... sort of. No more assembly lines but I keep seeing this service is not available at this station. Specifically when trying to research, or invent.

I tried using the map to see it stations listed will show what service they offer, but it just lists Industry. So how do you know if a station offers Research/ Manufacturing/ Invention without having to visit each one.

I'm not being forced into buying a POS am I?

Nope.

Some stations offer services such as Invention, Research, Etc.... while others dont.
Fly to a different station to find out. I think you can check that out through the "facilities" tab on the industry window.

You can use those services in any security space. No need to wait 10 years for a research slot for your Antimatter S BPO. :)

But do you have to be in station to do that? I really hope theres a better way to find services than flying around mostly blind =\

Just open up he industry window in station and then click on the facilities tab....it will show the different indy stations and what you can do in then in that general region. Not sure how far away from were you are it shows.

I believe it's usually regional within a dozen or so jumps like the market details window.

For the OP, I would recommend using Dotlan if you can be bothered jumping from station to station or region to region. For example;

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/The_Forge

At the bottom right there are coloured icons to represent services offered in any stations/systems for a specific system it also lists the different services available on each station at the bottom of the page;

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/Jita

Just replace Jita or The_Forge with the system or region you want to check on. Hope this helps!

There are skills that let you do it remotely, but you still need to physically bring the items in question to that specific station.

i.e. you cannot have a blueprint in one station and have another station to research it for you.

I also found the following website to be a FAR better way of finding stations with the right facilities. In particular, I used it to find stations that had a base refine rate of 50%. I couldn't find a way of doing that in-game!
