Fighters and Bombers following in warp

I was doing some testing on SiSi and decided to warp to a new location with my fighters and bombers in space. I wanted to see if they still follow in warp and get an idea for what to expect.

What happened next was almost the worst change to carriers in this expansion of questionable carrier changes. My fighters/bombers did in fact follow me, as I had assumed would happen. The bad thing was they landed 5,000 km from me.

That is 5 million meters. After sitting there spamming the MWD ability on them I started to realize just how bad this was about to be. So I started doing the math, and the numbers I found outright enraged me.

5 million meters at 542.64 m/s takes 9214.212 sec (153.57 min or 2.56 hrs)

Adjusting for perfect mwd usage gets:

max mwd travel dist - 54,264m in 20sec
max non-mwd travel dist - 32558.4 in 60sec
total dist covered per cycle - 86822.4 m in 80 sec or 1085.28 m/s

Thus meaning with perfect mwd cycles 5,000 km takes 4607.1 sec (76.79 min or 1.28 hrs)

So if you are willing to sit there and click a button exactly every 80 sec, 1 hr and 17 min later you can pick up your bombers (the fighters get in a bit faster).

There is absolutely no reason for this. If I left drones behind, I could just warp back and retrieve them in say 1 minute tops. Because the fighters/bombers always warp with you, this means you have no option but to wait an exorbitantly long time, even if you started slow boating towards them, it doesn't cut off much of that time either.

There is no reason for this massive amount of range difference when warping. It hopefully is a bug, though if it is not, then someone should really look into this and really have a good reason as to why players would be forcibly subjected to such a long wait.

It's clearly a bug. They're supposed to land 50,000 km away, not 5,000 km. You should report this immediately.

Not 5 million metres. Oh no.

What's even worse is:

That's 500 million centimetres
That's 5 billion millimetres
That's 5 trillion micrometres; and
That's 5 quadrillion nanometres.

Such tragedy.

Hmmm.

Hang on.

That's only 5 megametres.

Ok cool. Not so far after all. Disaster averted.

Could you not warp back to them?

Yes, it sounds like a bug. I'd think when you warp they should land on top of you.

Doesn't it only take a second to deploy them after you call them back in?

You shouldn't be warping with them at all, in that context. Perhaps it is some stats related to the fighters themselves that resulted in the distant warp off.

whats that in pico femto and attometers?

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

Now I know why the OP is complaining. Who wants to deal with yoctometres.

Yeah, everyone forgets about poor zepto and yocto.

They're the poor cousins of the measurement family, despite having the best names.

Just wondering if CCP wanted to take a minute and comment on if this is an intended aspect or a mistake.

I still don't understand why carriers have such huge lock and control range, yet the inability to truly take advantage of such ranges in any real kind of situation.

I mean seriously, if these fighters can warp around a system in space, why can they not warp back to the carrier if over 150k-200K off?

While warping to a target could be a bad thing if they could just land at zero, they could have it scripted that any target say over 300K the fighters can warp to withing 100K or the like, giving ample time and range for the opposing ship to target and kill them, and if returning to the carrier they would warp to say 50K off and then have to travel back.

This allows for meaningful play, the ability to tactically use them and no unfair advantage given cause it still requires a fair amount of travel time when they get to warp.

Even the superiority fighters can't burn 100K in a single MWD cycle. and the bombing bombers are so weak in bombing dmg they should be reprocessed and used to build torp bombers.
