Multiple citadels in system and side effects

I have found that systems with large numbers of citadels create high perks of lag followed by client crashes. This most often occurs when tabbing out and back into the game while in a system with a high concentration of citadels. UI and overhead adjustments make no difference to these effects, neither do graphic setting changes.
Additionally I have found that time dialation does not properly engage in these systems with multiple citadels. This may be local to me and if so I can try other workarounds, but my computer performance has, up to now, been more than sufficient to handle maximum graphics and Jita local.

I have had the same experience as the OP.

Additionally, undocking in systems with extremely large numbers of Citadels such as 6-C results in over 30 seconds of black screen before anything loads. In systems such as Dodixie which have less citadels, the black screen is only around 10 seconds and in systems with no citadels undocking is still virtually instant.

This is all extremely user-unfriendly. Hopefully it will be possible to eradicate these issues before they start to become apparent on TQ as well, as the numbers of citadels rise.

Perhaps it will be a non issue for TQ due to the cost constraint of citadels limiting their number. While this may be true for the first few months, eventually more and more citadels will be anchored and it is only a matter of time before high sec systems look like C6. Going over the proposed numbers for citadel cost, I will forecast within 1 month there will be 5+ citadels in high traffic systems. 3 months before there is at least 1 citadel in 90% of all suitable systems. 6 months for 20+ citadels for high traffic systems. Within 1 year I expect to see 50+ citadels in high traffic systems such as those neighboring trade hubs and lowsec gateway systems. If the numbers stay the same, people will choose quantity over size and build numerous amounts of small citadels. My best guess is 1in 5 corps will build one. I am including the micro corps here. These citadels will become synonymous with corporations asking for APIs and will become the standard for any self respecting Corp.
That being said, unless a UI change is made to filter out citadels, or a less constructive change limiting the numbers per system, this is bound to be a server disaster.
