concerning the defense ? where ?
what I see so far is ccp avoiding to say anything despite all the forum posts that signal the incapacity of a citadel to take down one lousy battleship.

I believe Maker is referring to the "solo player" part.

I may be weird, but the price on the medium citadels has fallen to 2.2B. That's more than a tower with defenses, etc, but it's certainly not unreachable even for a solo player. I can't imagine the levels of masochism needed to play Eve solo though.

Fact of the matter is that the towers aren't going away in the short term, I'd adopt a wait and see outlook.

Eve solo is actually a lot of fun, I travel for work a lot and kept getting inactive notices or even kicked for being unavailable for weeks at a time. This way I get to play when I want and how I want.

But it is getting harder. Citadel's aren't too expensive for me. They are just too much risk. I can't leave a citadel for a week at time because it can't defend itsel (even when manned). That effectively evicts me from w-space, and I only live in a c4 and a C2.

Hate to break it to you but your POS isn't defensible either by itself. I guarantee you that if someone wanted to shoot you during that week you were gone, your POS would be dead. There is this very flawed presumption that a POS is somehow "safe".

HP is a deterrent. Timers are a deterrent. These are all things that make it so people don't bother shooting your tower.

No one currently is shooting *live* Citadels. Not one has been killed after it has been anchored. Either people can't be bothered to shoot one for 3 days or the Citadels are defending themselves. It is probably more the former than the later as Citadel anti-subcap guns (since you mentioned C4 and C2) have killed a very small number of ships with many being from the same corp obviously testing the guns.

36 *anchoring* Citadels have been killed. 24 of those have been in wspace.

This doesn't mean wpsace is inherently worse off for Citadels either. It means that the people putting them up couldn't defend their space properly and as noted before, to CCP that is "working as intended". I do believe they had every intent to make things harder for solo players who had no ability to actually defend their stuff and only lived in it through the sheer annoyance of shooting a POS. In that sense things have gotten a bit easier to remove those people though many still won't bother randomly.

tl;dr: you agree.

A manned citadel is better than a manned pos. If you wish to learn that I'm sure it can be arranged

"an unmanned citadel"

If you don't have the people to have at least 1 dude online when your citadel is vulnerable.. Then why do you even have a citadel? You obv. don't have the people to live in it anyway...

Because not everyone plays Eve online every day or even every week.

So according to your logic,. I should just not play Eve online?

POS have limited space and are extremely expensive to maintain (fuel), which partly explains why some wormhole corps are anal about controlling your time. Often these corps are run by kids and people with waaay too much free time on their hands lol.

There are a few chill corps run by working adults with a real life on the outside, and they can pack a lot of fun in a few hours when they get online. I work a lot too.

I was much quite solo in a mostly MIA corp before I joined Team Pizza in a C5. Looking back, those years were a terrible waste compared to the commadarie, variety of game activities, and pew pew I now enjoy. Big smile

I would say "Yay !!!! no more/less Krab holes ! " but realistically that will not be the case as most of those Krab holes are supported in some part by the larger w space alliances anyways so they will basically just scan out and will turn into free content if people try to remove those citadels.

Some of the small group krab holes will most likely be gone after the pos removal.

As for solo work in w space future I think the mediums though a pain in the butt to anchor will be fine as long as you take the right approach. Only stock what your prepared to loose and count it as the cost of doing business.

Think of it like the belt ratting carrier approach. They know they are going to die. Sometimes multiple times a week. But they **** fit it and make far more then they loose. #winningeve

Build cost on the mediums is actually pretty low for the hull. Rigs and mods bring it up a bit. But do you really need a market or refinery for a solo / small gang hole.

My advice is to buy / build 2 hulls, Roll out all your connections, anchor the first one, see if it lives. Pick a slow time in the middle / first of the week. If it dies rinse and repeat .

Once it's anchored I cant imagine you will have too many people wanting to spend 3 days killing one for a corp they know only has 2 or 3 ppl and jack **** for loot.
