New Eden: We Need Help / Donation Drive for Fort McMurray Recovery

Hello New Eden,

Canada. Alberta needs your help. I've never posted something like this before... But I'm sitting here in tears, my stomach is so sick I can't eat as I back a bag to be ready at a moments notice to head out from Halifax (East Coast of Canada) to Alberta if they need more people to volunteer.

If anyone can donate, please do so to the Canadian Red Cross. People have just lost everything, I have a friend and her husband is trapped North of Fort Mac.

IMPORTANT EDIT

The Federal Government of Canada is matching whatever the Canadian Red Cross brings in for donations; dollar for dollar with no upper limit from now until the 31st. Currently the Red Cross has taken in over 30+ million since yesterday, which will then double with the Fed's matching.

Any donation drive should direct funds to Canadian Red Cross.

I was told today a guy who works for the same company as I do lost his home in the fire. He did not get a chance to get much out from what I heard.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I also think this is a good reason to fire up the EVE Player Machine for a PLEX For Good drive.

I'll be donating either way.

Sent $50 to the Red Cross Alberta wildfire appeal a few days ago. I think the fund is around $55 million right now but the damages are estimated to be in excess of $9 billion. Alberta has been good to me and it's an honour to help out. Live too far away from Fort McMurray to help directly. Alberta doesn't need this fire crap. The Slave Lake fire and the Bow River flood which devastated Canmore, Calgary and High River are still recent memories.
