How long should I wait for a support ticket to get processed?

I'm afraid that this is misleading. Support tickets can take days to multiple weeks to respond to as support tickets are dealt with in order of priority. You could find yourself waiting quite a while to hear back from CCP, and the response may or may not be in your favor.

You have received some good suggestions in this thread for possible options. Remember that each day you wait is another day that you could have been exploring again if you had self-destructed, so there is a limited benefit to waiting it out. If there are no locals, self destructing is the best option. A tough lesson to learn, but a lesson indeed.

I will close this thread now as I do not want this thread to wander down the path of discussing support ticket wait times and you have been given several solutions.
