A massive wildfire has destroyed like 1600+ homes, and forced the evac of like 88,000 something people in Canada. I think they said that later today the Canadian goverment will be organizing a evac convoy of cars to move refugees farther south, like 17,000 or so (and airfifting 8,000 people out) that will have to pass back through some of the fire zone with helicopters flying ahead as forward scout to evac them south.

Like 1100 plus firefighters on the ground, 145 helos and 22 air tankers are involved

Canadian Wildfire

Any Canadian capsuleers or their families caught up in this? Y'all and yours stay safe.

I dunna, the Canadian Red Cross & govt is going to have their hands full with this one, possible idea for a new PLEX FOR GOOD drive for 2016?

I live in Alberta but fortunately way down south near the US border, far away from the inferno. A good portion of Fort MacMurray has been razed. Even down here the air was hazy yesterday. The fire is expected to double in size this weekend but forecasts say the winds may start blowing it away from what remains of the city. If not, the entire city may be gone. Thing is the city is not yet fully evacuated. That is expected to take a few more days.

The federal and provincial governments are matching individual donations to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Wildfire Appeal. Think this also applies to donations made outside the country by non residents. As of about 24 hours ago, $30 million was raised but this disaster is far from over yet. Tens of thousands are homeless. Everything they couldn't take with them when given mere minutes notice to evacuate is gone. I couldn't imagine going through this.Sad

Yeeee!
