HAC or HIC?

Hey everyone!
So I'm finishing up my training on Gallente HAC's and HIC's and wanted your opinions....

Goal: Solo PvP in low and nullsec as a roam/gate camp kind of movement.

Abilities: Drone and gunnery skills are similarly adequate, although I may have to train up my heavy drone skills. I plan to also have a cloak in case I have a target jump the gate that is too powerful.

I was initially thinking of the Phobos which has the warp disruption advantage, or if I want more firepower, then do with a Deimos. Then I remember people saying how good Ishtars are, so which do you think is better for solo play? As of writing this post, I'm leaning more towards the Deimos.

Ishtar: good brawler, can take on most ships. Lots of different possible fits.

BUT its is really really really slow. Either you win or you die.

Ah and: they are quite expensive. ..

I would recommend something fast. A vigilant is about the same isk wise and a pretty good hull....bar that I would go with a Deimos, especially if you don't have good heavy skills.

Also, a max skilled thorax or vexor are a site to behold, you should try those. Flying bling is fun, but gets expensive fast....I could welp a billion isk in a weekend(i've gotten close in just frigates),but if you don't have it like that I would suggest other options, especially if you are considering fitting a cloak to one of these ships.

Hmm, thanks for the Idea, I'll probably practice with the T1 variants before shelling out a plex for a hull.

try it out first with a Vexor Navy Issue and a Thorax and see which playstyle you prefer.

although, if you have sweet gunnery skills and meh drones skills, the decisions kind of made for you.

The downside of drone boats is that any smart opponent will ignore you and shoot your drones. I recently solo de-fanged an Ishtar with my Svipul, chopping through that many drones is something of a chore for Sisyphus, but once it's done, the drone boat is helpless.

Bear in mind that many people would be hessitant in engaging a HIC as they would see it as bait rather than a solo ship.

I was thinking of a fit along these lines to start with, or should I go with an active tank?

Medium Trimark Armor Pump I

Infiltrator II x5

It has better tank and more dps than your fit (along with better tracking as well). Restrained MWD is picked over t2 because the speed increase from T2 over the restrained one isn't worth it imo. Infiltrators are picked over hammerheads since they deal EM damage so will do nice against targets where your guns struggle (t2 caldari or gallente ships) and can easier deal with the frigate menace. If you want you can also replace one of the webs with an AB which allows you to keep tranversal up when scrammed so you can mitigate more damage.

[Thorax, Dualrep]

Damage Control II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Medium Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

Sadly I am having issues with copyrights so it isn't available on YT atm. Still able to download from EVE-files or Mediafire.

For Op, The fights at the 8:30 and 11:10 mark should be relevant for you as well as the first fight. Enjoy :)

People will overship when they see a HIC.
