The future of research agents?

Hi all,

I finally decided to catch up with the up and coming changes with citadels, but reading through, one thing caught my eye:

https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/back-into-the-structure/

"We want those new structures to ultimately replace our existing Datacore system – one way of doing so would be to have Datacore caches spawn near the Research Laboratory that refill at various intervals. Those caches could be set to be looted by anyone, but with a specific tax set up by the structure owners."

So CCP has expressed their desire to replace the datacore system. Any ideas on what this will mean for research agents? Is now the time to spend all those saved up research points on some crappy datacores with a few million in value, or is there likely to be some new juicy items to replace them in the future, so keep those RP's stockpiled?

Any sources would be good,or pure speculation is fine too Big smile

Research agents are rarely used anymore anyways.

Datacores currently are primarily sourced by faction warfare LP stores.

Well that's because they are not very useful so it would be a good thing to re purpose them P

Aaron, those are my thoughts exactly.

Will this make research agents worthless, or will research agents suddenly be in demand again with a change to their use?

Like hell they are not used! Granted they have been heavily nerfed over the years, and from the sounds of things CCP will yet again break a game mechanic that some of us have devoted a lot of time to get where we are at.

Same here. I came back this time to devote myself to manufactoring and industry.
2 accounts working together on PI, relic and data hacking and Research agents all in High Space.

Removal of datacores from the Research agents would be a blow.

I would also like to mention the removal of data and relic sites in High space. They are now almost non existent.

When I did find a data site the look was so sad. It never was good bun now............

I could be wrong; but I think the lack of relic and data sites is just because they are competed for heavily in high sec.
