Security status benefits

It has come to my attention that a 5.0 security status gives no tangible reward to the player who grinds it. There is no real advantage over a 5.0 security status and a 0.1.

The only benefit may be that you can suicide gank/pirate longer before being unable to return to high security space, not really that big a deal imo, but thats just my feelings towards it.

Why not have a system where being a law-abiding citizen offers more reward than just the ability to be a law-breaking citizen for longer?

My proposal, simple, allow the law abiding 5.0 security status goody goody two shoes some leniency in matters of custom agent shenanigans. (make the customs agents catch the high security status players less often)

Just my little idea. Feedback (flame) is welcome, and expected, as usual.

what do you think?

Hmm... Someone wants to sell drugs to all the little boys and girls.

Seriously I think this is a good idea... Mostly because it would make my habit cheaper.

While I support the general idea, that seems a bit specialized to be a good mechanic.

What if security status was a modifier for standings gains? Someone with a 5.0 sec status would gain standing with Empire factions/corps much faster than someone with -10. For pirate factions this would be reversed.

How about lower taxes ? :)

Lower taxes because of standing is also a solid idea, nice one.

No. Its a bad idea.
Why should Concord standing affect how Empire navies view you?
Why should Concord standing affect NPC corporation tax?

I meant sale's taxes, sorry. Should have been more precise.

The SCD is a CONCORD member, right ?

Another idea : higher bouties on rats, maybe even revive that skill that ads 1,500.00 ISK per rat, adding another bonus to it, depending on (positive) sec status.

You could extend that to a malus on bounties for a negative sec status. CONCORD would allow criminal scum to repent from their crimes, but not pay them well while doing it.

This, of course, would have little to no impact on drone space dwellers.

How about the ability to attack negative security players in Low Sec, where Concord isn't?

I am still relatively new to Eve so I admit this could be dumb idea, just throwing it out there for what ever it's worth. It would bring a whole new dimension to PVP in lowsec.

+1

I'm in agreement. There should be some advantage of having a high sec status, whether this is bonus the mission pay outs, faster return on locator agents, decreases taxation from market buying and contracts, better refining yields.

Perhaps all of this and more?

Currenlty I burn my sec staus by suicide ganking because there's no point keeping it.

Agree it would be neat for high Security Status to have some inherent benefit, apart from more of a cushion for being a criminal.

I think the best idea is: Concord Agents and missions.

Exactly how that would work, I couldn't say, but that would seem to be one good option.

Only thing sec status should do is make your life more difficult or easier. Being -10, you should be shot on sight by NPC at gates even in your pod because its a harsh universe and even you should know that undocking in an egg was a stupid idea. Being 5.0, just gives you more leniency towards going negitive 10. So to balance being shot on sight because you don't bother to get it up, force the player to actively grind and maintain an equilibrium. It is a harsh universe, you should not have it any easier then the guy you are spouting that line to just before you gank his hulk.
