A somewhat buried thread on Reddit contained a link to a brand new review of the game by Lord Mandelor.

It was informative and, I thought, appropriately humorous and irreverent. Even The New Order of Highsec got a mention. There were a couple of inaccuracies I noticed, but on the whole it acts as something of an antidote to the 'trailer'-type stuff we usually see.

EVE is hard to review because 1. There's so much to do and 2. You either like it or you don't. He did a fairly okay job at remaining neutral, but stuff like "don't mine, it's boring" is the type of stuff I hate. Some people like mining for whatever reason just like thousands of people play MOBA games for reasons I can't possibly fathom. A reviewer shouldn't concern himself with his own personal preferences and focus on the gameplay (which, in case of mining, could use some work admittedly).

I realise that the review will be controversial. I rather liked his point that resource-gathering and other activities should be what people do in order to support their PvP.

Nice.

Nice review. A bit too long but then, this is EVE. It's not a easy game. Lol

It's interesting that you rather liked the one thing I really disliked in his review, the idea that everyone have to seek ship vs ship PvP (there are several other forms of PvP) in order to play the game properly feels elitist and narrowminded. I also don´t really like the DONT DO IT part on mining, he should have said don´t solo mine since it's perfectly fine to mine as part of a corporation fleet.

The other parts of the review where great though so I'd still rate it as really good both due to the humorous parts and that I agreed on most parts and especially the awesomeness of wormholes and that exploration is the most fun PvE activity.

I guess just like Lord Mandalore, I have my own very clear view of the game. You do too! It wasn't meant to be a 'neutral' review of the game, but I think it would be very useful for someone wanting to find out about EVE, as indeed for those of us who spurn activities other than combat PvP.

And it was very very funny.

Heh,guilty of doing some of the more moronic stuff reviewed but best review of the game I seen in recent years. It sure will save a lot of time for prospecting gamers out there.

Not bad, but I find this short video covers more ground and presents a more balanced view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHLdYVELWrQ

Pretty good. This is why I don't try to explain Eve to people, it takes 30 minutes and still makes only a small amount of sense.

Digging around reddit for links? My. My. And, a YOUTUBE REVIEW? Why,
that's almost being mentioned in the Smithsonian!

I could only make it to about 5 minutes into this bad review.
Bad because it's like, not objective, it's like, way too long and the reviewer's voice sounds like sarcasm and medication have turned him to some form of like, sentient cake.

Not sure what to think of that, the guy is either a genius or is as mad as a box of frogs, the eyes freak me out hehe, I feel madness may be winning this time as the title makes little sense

Yep...and xenuria with a pair of shoes in the same pic was a nice touch. :D

Not too bad, overall, imo...

One of my favorite parts was when he was talking about the CQ and put alex jones on the tv. LOL that as funny!

Yes, the guy is slightly sarcastic with mainly dry humour - but I like that, so np.
