Does anyone know why you can no longer get the current market layout?

In the old (I'm talking a few years ago) there was an XML file which contained all the categories with the sub categories and the marketGroupID that related too it. why did they take that away or is there some new way of getting it which is outside of the static data dump?

I'm with EVE since 2008 and I never seen such an XML file you are describing. The SDE was distributed as an MSSQL data dump in the early days and it's now converted to yaml files.

If you can be more specific, we could provide additional info to help you out.

I swear that i downloaded one of the older data dumps at the time filled with XML files one of which was the tree containing the layout of the market as you see it in the eve client.

Now that i think about it it might have been a file from fuzzwork. I dunno if they do that, I can't find the files now.. maybe I'm just crazy :P

If I understand correctly you're looking for "invMarketGroups". As far as I know you can get this data as SQL or CSV (comma separated file).

go to: https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/dump/latest/

and search for (CTRL+F) invMarketGroups

You will find a .csv and a .sql extension there.
