So I've just logged in... and it's almost like a completely new game to me. Trying to re-learn everything again.
I can't remember why I stopped playing, most likely time constraints.

After logging in I find myself with kitted out Abaddon, 40M ISK...20M Skill points (1.5M unassigned)

I've created a profile here : http://eveboard.com/pilot/Death_Cral

Would really appreciate it if someone could take a look and suggest what skills I should focus on first... and what on earth this character was geared towards doing. After some Googling looks like an Abaddon is a war ship so looks like I definitely wasn't looking to do mining.

I understand EVE is an open ended game and I could do whatever I wanted but clearly I had a goal for this character but I don't know what it was, or what I should do next.

Any help would be great.

There are no shoulds in this game. You "should" do what ever you enjoy doing.

Skill points don't really hold you back from doing much of anything in this game. I would not try to figure out what the character would be good for. Instead I'd recommend playing around with various aspects of the game and sticking with what you like.

I've probably said this a thousand times but if you are waiting on skills to train then you are playing this game wrong.

Ok so I looked at your skills....

You have very few skills trained but many of them at level 5. With the exponential growth rate of training time for skills that typically is not a good idea.

Some examples of what I mean is that you have Amarr BS @ 5 and very few other spaceship command skills. You have large Pulse Laser Specialization @ 5 and don't Even have Beam Spec trained. You also have capacitor skills trained up pretty high but almost nothing else trained at all.

This character would not be too bad if it were a high sec mission running alt that you log over to while waiting on your main for a fleet to form up but this is a terrible skill spread for a main or only character.

In summary after looking at your skills I will even more strongly recommend that you branch out and try other stuff.

For perspective:

- 20 million skillpoints is about a year of training.
- your character appears to be tightly focused on the basic tech 1 Amarr ships (frigate, cruiser, battleship), with tech 2 lasers.
- the unassigned skill points are because CCP removed the learning skills and reimbursed the points

I'd guess you were probably doing PVE combat missions for Amarr agents at the time of your departure. Check your character Standings tab to see what NPCs you have the best standings towards.

As for what to do, the game has likely changed a lot, the ships have been revamped, the modules have been revamped, and they've added several PVE activities, changed the PVP combat rules and flags, and added wormhole space.

The 3 horizontal bars = above your picture on the bar on the left are like a Start-> button, locate the Ships Chart and look around to see what ships you may want to fly. Also look through the various ships on the EVE University wiki, as they often have comments about how to use the ships. Decide which ships you want to fly.

Also decide if you want to focus on PVE or PVP (or both), and join a player corp that focuses on that. Preferably outside of high-sec, because that's typically where the fun is.

For what to train, broadly, you want to shore up your support skills (Armor, Engineering, Electronics, Navigation, Shields, Targeting) to 3-4, then train the ship skills (Spaceship Command) to unlock the ships you want, and train the weapon skills (Gunnery, Missiles, Drones) to match the ships you've unlocked. Non-combat skills (Corporation, Trade, Industry, Reprocessing, etc.) train as desired.

Feel free to ask more questions here.

My guess is that these two facts are closely related to why you stopped playing. If you do nothing other than run high sec missions this game will get boring, fast.

It seems as though your navigation and sheild skills are woefully under-levelled. If you want to create a well-rounded char, id suggest skilling for some of your navigation skills and basic sheild skills, even if you choose to fly armor ships, do help.

Other than that, there is nothing else you should really be doing until you figure out what you want to do with your (in-game) life.

Id suggest trying things out to see how you would fair. Try joining a nullsec/lowsec PVP corp and joining fleets(keep it to cruise and below though, dont fly your abaddon out).

And yes, people do mine in abaddons. Its horrific, but its been done before.

I'd suggest to do some missions first so that you can get a feel on how to actually fly your ship (and by default any ships in general). Make sure to socialize while doing missions so that you can get a grasp on what is happening in EVE and by consequence, what you want to do.

I'd suggest EVE uni if you want to relearn game mechanics and other stuff. Otherwise join a low/null/wh corp (**** highsec corps most of them are garbage, my first crop sucked balls) and have them tutor you around.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!
