Me and a friend is working on a web based application that makes caspsuleers able to win prizes.
This is going to be weekly PVP competitions that you sign up to via the application
For this we think that we would need a point based system.

So, our questions that arises is that how would we make it good, do you have any desires of how a pointsystem would be made.

We would like some links to information showing us how a point system could be designed.

We also would like to know if there might already exist such a point based system that we could use for our purpose.
We know that this is not much information given about our application, however we would like it so until our first alpha/beta is out.

As you may or not may know I've been playing EVE for quite sometime now and is very understanding of the game mechanism.

This post will be updated and monitored so please subscribe to it or bookmark it. We will also share more info as soon as we are capable to.

To open to abuse and cheating if you rely on people to post KM's, if your using the API, all good.

But over all, I dont think it will take.

Just look up KM and have parameters set for place date and time then when it spots a winner, it pings u an email saying this guy needs a prize and u contract him that prize.

So we've been pondering to use a dmg based point system. Regardless what ship you use or what ship you kill.

so then I can have an alt undock on a carrier and I undock in a frig and shoot them for the next 20 hours

or even on the less criminal side larger ships will always out damage small ships, and for all any of us know the smaller ship pilot might be way better in reality.

no, damage based is too easy to game and not representative of a player's skill

What capital are you talking about? If you're building it yourself there's really no need for very much of it. Unless you want to give prices in the billions, you can use your own capital to fund that at first (and some people can even afford prices in the millions like it's nothing at all :P)
