CCP Snorlax, been having issues that last few days where jumping gates once again is locking up the screen so I can rotate my view tell I change camera type.

Started up after I logged into my alt to do some MCT, had issues on her and now on the main again. This might now be your department but thought you should know.

Happens in Orbit camera mode - have to switch to tactical (might take two to three changes)

Please file a bug report with logs:

Go to settings in the launcher, enable 'Run clients with logging'. This will then start up LogLite when you press Play. Once you experience the camera issue, then go to LogLite and save the log.

Then go here: https://community.eveonline.com/support/bug-reports/ and fill in the report (mention my name in the title so I can find it quickly), with as much detail as you can and attach the log file you just saved.

I'll take a look as soon as I can and see if the logs give me a clue as to what is going wrong, and get the dev who worked on the camera to help if needed.

Haven't filled a bug report yet, but 'm having the same problem occasionally. The 'fix' I found was to select something out of game (in windowed mode) and then click back in game back and forth a few times. Sometimes this works sometimes you have to change camera modes to get it to work.

Hiya,

First of all, having wine support is amazing! Cider has been gradually doing a worse and worse job of actually performing will, with random FPS drops and taking an ungodly amount of time when undocking, which have all been fixed for me now.

Secondly, I have noticed that "Hide Wine" does not have a shortcut associated with it. Is this a global issue or is this something related to my personal setup? I have currently fixed this issue by adding a custom shortcut in my system preferences.

Lastly, is there a way for me to manually input the window resolution I want? My secondary monitors are only 21" while my iMac is a 27", and I can only choose from resulotions that 'fit' my 27".

With regards,
Kevin

You know you can resize the window under Wine by dragging on the edges, right?

What do you mean by "Hide Wine"?

he means that "clicking wine in the menu bar" (top left)... it doesn't have the command+h option for hiding wine (aka EVE. as the window is labeled wine.

p.s. did you get a cookie at fanfest...

@kevin - move the eve window to your 21" and it should change the options if not. aim for like 1920x1030

I'm afraid it's not letting me resize. It's showing me the little resize window curser but nothing happens when I drag.

OK, that's something I haven't seen. Guess I'll need to do some testing with multiple monitors.

Reporting in with an update: I've been able to resize, but apparently I can only resize the window if I try to resize it in the title bar. Previously I was trying to resize from the bottom-right corner and from the bottom of the window.

A few other things I have noticed (apologies if they've been reported before, couldn't find a list of known issues other than the 4 bullet points in this topic):
- When tabbing out and in of EVE, it often thinks I have ctrl pressed down. Need to hit ctrl on the keyboard myself to reset the down state of the ctrl key
- I can't type any characters that require the alt-key modifier such as \ (alt + shift + :) or € (alt + $). I am using an azerty keyboard layout
- Up close all textures are pixelated: https://i.imgur.com/OQky4g9.jpg
- When zooming my camera in or out while in space the "parallax seems to break" as in: The stations/planets/background textures will keep zooming in but not zoom out. I can reset this by looking at an object.
- I keep getting random "Socket Closed" errors today when in space (never when docked), unsure if it's because of patch or because of wine since I switched yesterday.

If there is any way I can help you pin down more issues or provide you with in-depth information about my environment, please let me know how master Snorlax o7

I submitted a bug report (78333) on this, but I haven't seen it mentioned in this tread.

When running two wine clients I have seen an issue where if I quit one client I can no longer type in the other. The function keys still work for modules. I can't type in the chat, split items or the bug reporting windows.

I have to quit both clients and restart them to fix it. Just reopening one doesn't work.

Having new problems with the system map since the patch. Unless I turn off post-processing completely, it's a total graphics disaster.

Working with it more today.. it's a disaster. What's the worst is the map. Can only get the map to load 25% of the time.

It really seems that it's overall memory issues.. I checked the memory usage while Wine/EVE was running, and it wasn't high at all, barely over 1G.. is it simply not getting enough memory allocated? Or is it a graphics memory issue?

Try the following, to ensure the Wine environment is properly set up:

Open the shared cache folder (View menu, Reveal in Finder, Shared Cache) and delete the wine and wineenv folders. Note that if you delete the wineenv folder you will lose all settings. If you want to maintain client settings you can delete everything from within wineenv except drive_c/users.

It seems that updating Wine versions is not a 100% reliable - I'm working on improving this in the launcher.

I too get this issue. I have found that multiple presses of the Command / Option or Control key frees up the keyboard again.

Usually the Command key suffices but in particularly difficult times all three need to be pressed.

Configuring the EVE client to run under WINE worked without a hitch, but I'm unable to access the general settings menu (ESC) to reconfigure anything. I just turns the screen greyscale and nothing appears. The lack of this menu and the functionality of command keys is a deal killer at this point, unfortunately. That and the ability to import existing settings.

I seemed to be having the same issue. Windows (including the Esc -> settings window) weren't properly stacking and windows disappeared upon trying to open/close things (i.e. they were there since I could see tooltips but the windows themselves were invisible).

This was only an issue when I was out in space, not in the character selection screen. My character normally was logged out in a POS and I found when I docked/undocked the in-space window issues were fixed (one time I had to dock/undock twice).

Please file a bug report in game right after this happens, I need to see logs. Even better if you have full logs from LogLite - attach to the bug report.

Done & done.

Thanks for the Wine support!

For those still having an issue with randomly disappearing windows, this helpful fellow's fix (just deleting the Wine cache) worked for me. Also remember to check that you're using Dx9.

Can i get a screenshot or something to point me to the right direction? Thanks ;)

Dear CCP Snorlax,

Thanks for all your work on this. The last two builds have been really stable, and the window-disappearing issues have gone away (deleting those other cache files may have been part of that).

The game's running really well right now. Thanks again for all your efforts to help us!

This seems like a great idea, but it doesn't work for me. I switched to Wine in launcher prefs, the launcher downloaded wine, but then every time I try to launch eve, wine starts up and then crashes tryng to execute some xxxexe.exe thing (I don't remember the name). After four tries, I'm going back to cider. The damn client may be crashing regularly, but at least I get a few minutes in the game.

If this keeps up, though, I guess I'll have to cancel my four accounts. :-(

If you are using Cider try this fix https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=480596&find=unread.

It worked for me and may as well do the trick for you.

Yes, it's a known issue - it's on the top of my list.

CCP Snorlax, is this still at the top of your list? I'm still missing the labels.
