Greetings Capital pilots!

As I'm sure many of you are aware, tomorrow we are bringing you an extensive update to the Capital Ships of New Eden. This involves many moving pieces so to make the transition as smooth as possible we're making this thread to detail what you can expect to find when you log in after tomorrow's downtime.

[NOTE: THIS TRANSITION IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVE A CARRIER OR SUPERCARRIER OR ANY FIGHTERS, PLEASE READ IN FULL!]

Fighters & Drones

  • All existing Fighters are being multiplied by 6 (Their size & construction costs are reducing by a similar amount).
  • All existing Fighter-Bombers are being multiplied by 4 (Their size & construction costs are reducing by a similar amount).
  • Fighters will be moved into the new Fighter Bays of their respective ships.
  • Fighter manufacturing jobs will have their outputs multiplied appropriately.

Carriers

  • If your Carrier DOES have a triage module fitted during the patch: It will be converted into their factional equivalent Force Auxiliary!
  • If your Carrier DOES NOT have a triage module fitted during the patch: Nothing will happen

Drones in Carriers/Supercarriers
As drones can no longer be used by these ships, we need to move them to an appropriate location.
  • For character-owned ships, this will be the hangar bay of their home-station as listed on the character sheet.
  • For corporation-owned ships, this will be the corporate HQ
  • For ships owned by neither a character nor a corporation (such as ships in a contract) we'll put them in the ship's main cargo hold, and then let the new owner sort it out when he gets the ship.

Force Auxiliary Skills
We were planning to refund all isk spent and sp trained in the now defunct Force Auxiliary skills along with this conversion. However we have encountered some complications that mean that we do not feel confident delivering this tomorrow. This will still happen in the coming weeks (Or at the latest by the next release). Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!

Thats it! Hopefully this should clear up any concerns you may have and leave you with all the information required to be ready to go as soon as the patch hits.

Fly safe!

  • Is a ship floating unpiloted in space considered to be un-owned for this purpose?

When the carriers are converted to FAX, does the triage module stay fitted or is it "consumed" in the process.

I would think it remains fitted, but wanted to check.

What happens to fighter market orders? Do they get canceled or adjusted?

I think it depends on how it got there. If ejected from an SMA or other POS module, I believe it's considered corp owned (maybe?),
while if the pilot ejected, it's 'owned' by whomever ejected.

"We were planning to refund all isk spent and sp trained in the now defunct Force Auxiliary skills"

so ive been training the FAX skills since they were released (as in, before they announced they were gonna use existing carrier skill) to get a head start, remapped and implanted for max SP/hr and cheekily decided to keep training until the skills were revoked and the SP reimbursed, thinking i could then distribute the copious amounts of SP back into new skills like light fighters and etc...

    **** me i guess, right?

So buy 1 fighter today, then have 6 tomorrow, then sell all 6 for the price of 6 fighters before?

Would that be considered an exploit?

All market orders for Fighters/Fighter Bombers are being cancelled and ISK spent to initiate the orders is being refunded.

People will have a chance to put up new orders post patch.

How is selling a fighter for an overpriced amount an exploit? You can sell whatever you want at any price you want post patch. If you want to try to sell them at the old price there is nothing stopping you, or preventing your market competitors from cutting under you on price.

Please sell me your fighters at 1 ISK/unit, k thnx.

LOL you could try that, but the market will adjust.

You might get lucky right after downtime and be able to sell to someone who did not adjust their buy orders, but since the material cost is also being cut, you technically should not be any better or worse off.

In theory, the market will adjust immediately, but in practice, you will probably be able to find someone who does not change their orders. (unless CCP auto adjusts buy orders but I doubt it)

So clarification, which skill immediately after the patch will be required to pilot a Force Auxiliary? The Force Aux. skill due to be removed and repaid, or the carrier skill book currently used for carriers?

Again I'm talking tomorrow which is needed, not later.

    [list]
  • For character-owned ships, this will be the hangar bay of their home-station as listed on the character sheet.

  • If I understood that correctly that means if my carrier with drones in the drone bay is currently in Station A, but my home station listed in the character sheet is in Station B, then my drones after the patch will appear in Station B?

Why not just have them be put in whatever station the carrier is docked at?

What will happen to the not fitted Triage modules (e.g. in cargo holds or hangars)? Will they be reimbursed, as no longer in use, or will they be simply used by the Force Auxiliaries just like they were used by triage carriers?

I understand the Fighters skillbook is being split in two. Assume I have Fighters V in the bank, what is to happen to it?

    It knows what you think.

Oh great CCP overlords, could you please explain more how fighters will work with Citadels? For example, are the Fighters skills needed to load, launch, and control fighters from structures? Will the % damage bonus from the person controlling the structure apply to those fighters? I think it's important to clearly state this so we know if we have to spend the not-insignificant time training into fighters as well as the new structure skills in order to utilize even the Astrahus to the fullest.
